Ever visit an NHS hostpital in northern England? And yes - I have (Third World and UK). If you consider filth, disorganisation, practitioners who can't even speak english, delapidated buildings, parking lots covered in garbage - I could go on, but I won't.... this is England I'm talking about by the way.

As a lurker sitting here lurking in the back of the forum I can see truth in both sides of the arguement.
The problem is there are many shades of grey and it seems here that both sides of the arguement are refusing to see the other's point of view.
I can say that having lived in Canada just over two years I have been impressed with the healthcare services I have received. Quick, efficient, clean and proactive. In the UK I am sure this was available in some areas but I have also experienced the type of scenario that Jozzo has portrayed. I speak with a range of experience having lived in both the North and the South in the UK. I can tell you there is a huge North / South divide (yes I know that in the South there are "have not" communities too, just less of them).
I am sure that this answer will not settle down the row and will probably stir up some more. But lets get back on topic or start another thread on the differences between the two healthcare services.
