Would this have happened in the UK?

Re: Would this have happened in the UK?
I forgot the other tactic - if anyone produces information to disprove your sweeping claims (weather in Midlands equal to Melbourne and as many 'wear shorts' days; in another thread the weather's great from March to October) you claim you've got a life and don't need to know that.

Re: Would this have happened in the UK?
I wanted to see if Chris was capable of discussing anything other than a competiton between Brisbane and Herefordshire by pressing the recent posts button. And guess what. Its a single topic for the poor man. We all know he does it to stir shit and make himself feel adequate about his decision. I don't get the competitive aspect, to the point of telling lies. If to move somewhere makes you happy, go for it. No point sitting on here and justifying it 2 years later..

Would this happen in Dublin?
Erm it did, someone got stuck under a bus and people helped.
But Aussie TV news claimed tonight they helped because they were inspired by Australians. WTF!!!!!!
They didn't do it then because its a normal reaction to help someone stuck under buses, trains, cars, pile of sand, cow dung.....

Don't take any notice of the media, most times it's just froth, bubble and waffle.

Yes, what Australia doesn't have is quality such as this:
Freddie Starr ate my hamster
Gotcha (sinking of the Bellgrano), Stick it up your Junta ('Argies')
Up yours Delors (on EU)
Bin Bagged (Bin Laden)
Bwing on the Euwos (mocking Roy Hodgson's lisp after he takes over as England team manager)
Germans wurst at penalties (stats show England better at taking penalties)
But some good ones from time to time like:
Super Caley go ballistic Celtic are atrocious (Inverness Caley Thistle beating Celtic)

Re: Would this have happened in the UK?
If we're talking newspapers then yes, this, exactly.
In the UK there are certainly extremes of quality, but both extremes.
The problem I have here is there is no newspaper to read that is not just completely partisan and politically motivated. Some on here elude to the fact that there is a quality 'broadsheet' but when pressed always refuse to name it...so I assume they're talking about The Australian, the editorial wing of the Liberal party. Meanwhile, Melbourne types will bang on about the The Age which has just becomes more and more tedious with its tenuous attacks on the government and Abbott...neither of which I'm very fond of, but even I feel bored with it!
Is there anything left? Something I'm missing?

Didn't think that was possible
