In Melbourne, the train jobsworth acting in concert with the platform jobsworth will bring the network to a halt because
someone felt dizzy and sat down on a train - and then (in the majority of cases) felt better once their fellow passengers had jumped to help and or pressed the button.
They will sometimes halt the network whilst a paramedic attends at the next platform. It doesn't seem to occur to them that the person (who is often walking by then) could just be helped smartly off the train in to the arms of the platform jobsworth...who then sit them down until the ambos arrive...
I know you are not always supposed to move someone but even if someone is lying down - just roll them off on to the platform, "1-2-3 lift!" nicely like. Just sayin'

First issue the Australian forum has had in weeks.... Almost a record.
I reckon Renth is possibly right about it potentially not happening in London. There people would have immediately gone looking for a 2nd route to work to avoid being held up.... Of which there are plenty of choices in most cases, certainly close in to the CBD, they would have moved on immediately.

Quite frankly it is just ridiculous to guess at what people may or may not do in a similar situation in a different city. To assume that people in London would just rush off to find another way to work whereas in Sydney they would all just muck in to help is just so laughable. Unless the exact same thing happens it is impossible to say but my faith in human nature tells me that in all probability the exact same thing would have happened.

I logged on last night for the first time in a long time and nobody posted a single thing in the Barbie for hours.
