I logged on last night for the first time in a long time and nobody posted a single thing in the Barbie for hours.
I always gauge it by scrolling down to the bottom of the first page of threads in the Aus or Barbie forum and seeing when the last post was...lately you get threads that haven't been touched for 10 days on the front page...so yeah, it is a bit tumbleweed like I'm here...has been for a while.

Lately you get threads which start off and then end up a slanging match between 5 or 6 well known posters. Personal insults, long held prejudices and sweeping generalisations never backed up by any reasoned arguments, single smilie posts ............. The mods delete posts and close threads; any wonder posters are discouraged.

Yep. Perfectly good threads get highjacked for selfish reasons.

Seriously though even thoigh it is quite obvious it would happen in the UK or indeed most other places some still chose to vote no almost I assume as a kind of protest perhaps.

Since there have been only two known incidents of this nature, notably in the most eastern parts of the world, statistical analysis concludes that the sample data are far too small to be able extrapolate with a great deal of certainty, whether human kindness of this nature would take place in one or more western locations.

Having said that, Yes, I believe it would happen in the UK or most other countries for that matter.

The problem is it was very clear the purpose of this thread was to somehow show Aussies to be special and that surely people in the UK would never do something like this. It is normal for expats to have that sort of attitude as it makes them feel all warm and fuzzy even though deep down they dont really believe there is any difference. Its just human nature. That applies equally to those who voted no, it is obvious if the conditions were right it would happen anywhere.

No you are just paranoid and read it that way. Had a fun read of your recent thread on the moving back forum. Interesting to see the first year was tough, and naturally so. I would expect a massive change of scene for your whole family to be so. Nothing to be ashamed of. But to paint a portrait over here that everything was rosey and paradise is just deceptive.
