Wot tings ave yous learrnt tooday?

As life is a glorious journey filled with wondrous experience we constantly learn new things (wretch).... today I've discovered

1) The Yanks call Tunisia 'Tune - eesh - year'
2) My 1 year old cat, Outboard, can lay a turd the size of King Kong's finger
3) A massive brown stripey spider found in the car can evade an industrial hoover

What about yous?

I reckon my OH is a member of that - if you are referring to making a 'fart chamber' out of the duvet and then holding my head in said 'chamber'. :frown:

1) Learnt how to strip gyprock/plasterboard from the walls of a flash riverside apartment :)

2) Met an english lady helping who moved to cleveland when she first arrived in brisbane to get the big house/pool etc that many british dream about and said the quiet retirement atmosphere almost sent her insane/depressed. Has sold it all and moved closer to Brisbane and now happier. We agreed that for many british (not all) used to compact heavily populated cities the better option would be a smaller house in a busier inner area.

3) Learnt that behind some modest looking mirrored doors in Duncan Street in West End there is a fantastic greek/asian supermarket/deli.

4) Learnt that this half complete residential development now has the most unfortunate name in Brisbane: http://www.watersedgewestend.com.au/main.html (sound, open in IE)

That's really good, I'm happy for you. Just to emphasise it I am not saying everybody should avoid the quiet outer suburbs just that for "some" people they would be too quiet and/or lonely and the big house/lap pool does not compensate those people. For others they love it. It seems like 90% of people on here are heading to those type of estates I just wonder whether the percentage should be lower as they can make some british immigrants miserable?

I know you're not necessarly talking just about Cleveland, but it doesn't really fall into that bucket. A lot of it is quite established, has is its town centre, shops etc...it does have a bit of character. It's a nice spot, but I would still fit into that rather be closer to the action category.
