I think thats a brilliant idea..... the party that is.. sorry cant make it though in NZ.... but I bet you would get some takers from BE.
If your looking for someting a little flash.. You could try Hansons (nice hotel, ask for an upstairs room) in the Swan Valley, with lunch at The Rose and Crown (Guildford) (nicer and posher than it sounds) or one of the wineries.
If you really want Rottnest, its beautiful, but the accomodation isnt as nice as you will find for the same money on the main land.
Theres always Margaret River (Perthites, dont grown they have only just arrived) you could do a wine tour, stay at a place with a Spa Bath book her in for a Huna Massage and have a gourmet dinner.

Anyway, welcome to the Marmite city hope it brings you both all you wish for. Happy Birthday to the Missus.

Can I come - I'll come to an opening of an envelope
I hired a limo from these guys
www.limowa.com.au
Good rates and driver was great.
Hire a limo and go for a nice meal.
But if you don't fancy that - have a party instead
At least that way you'll get to meet a few new people (and they won't be strangers by the end of the night!)

We'll come. I think a party full of people who've never met before sounds like a great idea. Great way to get to know some new people, too.

BTW, Ast. Have sent you a PM

Great i will come to ! Had my 40th birthday 10 days after arriving in Perth. Felt very sorry for myself as my twin sis was having a big bash with all our mates back in the UK.
