Who's going to win The Ashes?

Presumably this means another round of knighthoods for the English cricket team.
Oh, and don't forget Rudi. He managed to get three Australian batsmen out for England.

Well done England! Their win ensures that South Africa's No.1 World ranking is still on track. Keep at it boys!

I thought Freddie was going to call it a day at the man of the match presentation, really hope he lasts the next 3 tests, he hasnt done much for England since 2005 but he seems to really lift his game against the aussies.
Fantastic result and added bonus that Ponting wont be getting his name up on the wall although he was fairly magmanimous after defeat.

Even the British commentators agreed that three Australian batsmen were unfairly dismissed on a bad umpire call. There is no dispute about this, and it has nothing to do with being a sore loser.
Nevertheless, England played extremely well. I guess if I had to wait 75 years for a win at Lords, I'd be celebrating too.

I love the bitterness, like you said the best team won and the best team in the last test match couldn't get 20 wickets, your right about the umpires though......

In the end the best team won. No one who has watched test cricket seriously can gainsay that. The best team didn't win in Cardiff, but that's the beauty of test cricket. You have to win as well as being the best team.

The funny thing is that I think there were probably worse umpiring decisions made in the SA V Aus tests by the referal system and yet we didn't hear a word from the Aussie sporting media then. Suddenly, Aus are on the wrong end of the decisions and that's all we hear. Such short memories! It seems that everyone thinks that the new referral system will eliminate bad decisions, but we saw in SA and in WI that what actually happens is the decisions are worse.
England were on the wrong end of a fair few decisions in Cardiff, so maybe things are even now? They tend to even out over the space of a series.

To be fair to Ponting, he's not the one making noises about this issue.
