Re: what is it with aussie girls lack of humour?
i've noticed something about the aussie girls(at least in sydney), they seem to have a useless sense of humour, so many things go over their heads and they r also so very easy to offend over something silly. they never seem to laugh at themselves and they can't tolerate sarcastic humour.i'm not alone with this view because i know a lot of fellow brits both here and in the uk including a lot of females, that have said the same thing.the only exception seems to be the ones who r over 35, but even then it's very lacking in comparison to uk girls. might this have anything to do with the western suburbs?(sydney)

I have not found that Aussies do not have a sense of humour. I think it's just different. That said, I do find it difficult sometimes because of this cultural difference. For instance, UK sense of humour (mine anyway) is very self effacing, basically you take the michael out of yourself (and others collectively) to get a laugh and this in the UK makes you look better with your peers because we regard this as a good quality, well I do anyway. The Aussies I socialise do not do this, they do laugh at things and we do get on well but they just do not laugh if this includes them. This is just my observations and there are always exceptions but I do inquire if these exceptions have UK parents

english, American, German, Australia - all humour is different - what you might find funny doesn't necessarily mean that Aussie women will find it funny.
I lived in Oz for 5 years and didn't find it a problem. I find sarcasm alot more common in the UK - my hubby is one sarcastic and cocky bugger (probably why I fell for him!!)

I read this yesterday and just thought, poor attempt at stirring, move on.
I have mostly Aussie and Kiwi friends here in Singapore. I think we end up together precisely because we share a dry, sarcastic sense of humour.
This leads me to believe that Dorothy's hypothesis may well be correct.

Yup, all Aussie women hate the British sense of humour, you'd never see UK comedy on TV here ... heaven forbid in a DVD collection ...

It's actually worse than that. It was 2.36am local time here in Sydney when he had the urge to post that. That's assuming, of course, that he is who he says he is - a Sydney-dwelling cockney .

Well let's be fair, a name can mean nothing. I may be Penny but I have little money
