Volcanic Ash Cloud Flight Poll

Well its Sunday morning, everyone else is still asleep, and I'm on hold with Qantas, so I thought I'd kill some time......
Obviously the longer it goes on, the more people the ash cloud will affect, so it'd be interesting to see just how many of us are in limbo at present.

I voted the relatives are supposed to visit but unable to...partly correct...actually they're supposed to be on their way to Ireland from Canada in a week's time. Looking at the backlog of passengers to get through first once flights resume, whenever that is, I really doubt they'll be departing as scheduled.

Will probably be stuck en route (Madrid) back to London tonight/tomorrow morning.

Not complaining if I miss a few more days of work. :)

As you can't get out the country you could always offer to do voluntary work here... http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/aviation...aacuk_vag.html

Not unlike your Aussie job.

Still on holiday till Friday, and not even thinking about work, London in the sping has far too many pleasures for me to do anything that silly!! After Friday things might change.....

Can you not claim a council house and benefits in London to finance the shopping, most other arrivals who overstay there welcome in the UK can?

Something makes me think they'll start flying again before then, KLM have already flown a test flight and are now checking ash results.

This does not end well for Europe.

Kudos to the dutch (KLM) and BA for doing test flights. Even if they're happy, the have to wait for airspace to open. You can't fly VFR with passengers.

Airlines already talking about putting prices up.

That was a foregone conclusion straight away. The amount of money the airlines are losing they really were always guaranteed to put prices up.

Family are stuck in Sydney.... supposed to return to UK on 16th - but now rebooked for 25th.

Qantas are paying their hotel and food costs and they are all enjoying some extra beach time whilst they wait it out... :D

(Kids are happy to miss school - adults dont seem TOO distressed about missing an extra week and a half of work!)

Been to Limbo, hated the place ... isolated, racist and insular ... I was lead to believe it had cheap housing and was like England but with sun ... I was so gutted I had to spend 5 years ranting about it on ILoveLimbo.com.

Two out of three of my kids school teachers and 2 out of three ballet teachers all stuck in UK. The kids are a bit upset because they'll miss out on school photos today and one of the ballet teachers is 31 weeks pregnant so if she doesn't get back the kids are worried she'll have to stay there and have the baby and return when the baby's six weeks old and they're all gone for summer.

Highly unlikely. Majority of planes and crews are in the wrong place, going to be chaos for a fair bit longer yet.

Yes & as of now I think the red light flashing on the top of the radio is really a I.E.D timer & the cat, along with the birdie song in my head, will self destruct sometime real soon:frown::p

I may try Chad next ... I can just imagine a load of immigrants peeking over a wall with a "Wot No Visa?" speech bubble next to them.
