Highly unlikely. Majority of planes and crews are in the wrong place, going to be chaos for a fair bit longer yet.

Friend was telling me yesterday about a group of crew working for his ariline - they were on the last night of a 4 night stop in the Middle East when they were stranded. So they've now been there an extra 5 nights, and even though everything is paid by the airline thats still twice as long as they expected. That then throws out the rest of their rosters once they do get back, and then has a knock-on effect on all the other crews. Thats without the logistics of all the planes in the wrong place! Nightmare for the scheduling people.

They'll be starting up their excel spreadsheets as we speak :p

So if A is in B when its supposed to be in C and D is in A when its supposed to be in F how do we get things going again.

Oh look excel figured it all out. Right back to normal.:p

Re: Volcanic Ash Cloud Flight Poll

We flew out of Brisbane on April 15th to Manchester, we were due for a 2hr stopover in Dubai, on arrival there I looked on the board to see what gate we would have to go to, only to see the dreaded words CANCELLED on all UK flights. We ended up being stuck in Dubai for 6 nights, Emirates paid for 5 of these in a 4* hotel, we were lucky, I got told Singapore who we usually fly with didnt pay for any of there stranded people. Cant speak highly enough of Emirates, they were very good, communication was a bit poor sometimes but overall a great service, they let us change our flights on outbound so we could stay longer with family and catch up with our plans. Heard a lot of people were not so lucky

it would be funny if we hadn't booked a flight for 22nd out of Ireland to validate visas ....what happens if we miss our last validation date ( 27th of may) due to
flights not being able to leave because of volcanis ash???
Do you think the Australian government will regard this as a reason to extend
the deadline??????
Of course i don't mind being stuck on the way home !!!!!!

When the trouble happened initially there was an announcement on the DIAC site about contacting them if there were any problems with visas because of the flight issue, so I would suggest contacting them and see what they have to say.
