No, i don't think this site's unfriendly. We've all made friends via this forum, whether we just chat online, or actually meet-up in 'the flesh' it's certainly made my move here a damn sight easier than being billy-no-mates

It depends on where you stand with your viewpoint. If you're not an "I'm missing everyone/everything back in England" person and you post that you've had no probelms at all moving here then you're (potentially) seen as hard and agressive - it's just your perspective. If you dare to suggest people just get on with it, leave their dogs in the UK etc, again, because it's not a popular view, you're unfriendly and uncaring. What people don't seem to realise is that EVERYONE is individual and circumstances reflect differently on each one. The view of 'unfriendly' is a very wide description based on the persons own view of what people are posting here. Just becasue we disagree with each other on many points (as I'm sure we'd all do in real life, not just on here) doesn't make it 'unfriendly', it just shows that the whole microcosm of life is here and you take/give what you want from it. Some posters cannot accept different views from their own (take the MBTTUK forum for example) and this is probably where the view of it being an unfriendly place springs from. Read it all, take what you want, leave the rest would be the moral I think

i was just flicking through another forum.... just interested in finding out how other bricklayers were doing here in perth...
happen to notice a thread that mentioned how unfriendly this site is...
i was just wondering what other people thought as i noticed that some BE members were also members of the site...
is there a clique here...?
is it unfriendly?
i post on here now and again ,and i hope that some of my posts have never put people off coming to australia....
but it would seem that someones post has...

As for being unfriendly I do think you have to have thick skin for some of the responses you get, but people in general do try to help.
I know I can be a sarcastic b***ard sometimes, but only when a post particularly seems to be a boasting or lazy type post i.e. when they don't even try to find an answer themselves?

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I am new to this forum but old to Australian immigration. That makes me lack knowledge about the forum but have a plethora of knowlegde about Australian immigration; much more so than most members in here. And this is not boasting. I have been doing it for almost 12 years professionally.
I find that some people don't like being told the truth or dont like my direct approach when it comes to immigration. I think sometimes members want me to support what they have to say, even if I know that they are 100% incorrect.
If I say something to oppose their views or opinions then in comes the lynch mob.
I am new here and I am trying to 'pick up my act' and 'get with the programme'.

I found BE really daunting when i first joined however after playing some games I got up enough courage to join in!
I think it helps if people introduce themselves I always wished I had been brave enough to do that
Noone minds anyone else joining in a chat, there are always going to be smartarses and pompous statements, however mostly it's a very friendly bunch
I like you lot anyway

To be honest i have found it unfriendly at times , e.g , in the past i made a post (ok with hindsight probably shouldn't have),and it upset lots of people on here, i thought it was funny but many didn't , but hey ho, it would be a boring old world if we were all the same, anyway some of the posters still dont 'speak to me' coz of it, even though i was quite willing to forgive and forget, so therefore i do find it a bit cliquey
, also i did apologise about it , but then a couple of posters started to continually jump on every post I made, and to be honest it was upsetting, even if it is 'just an internet site'also we were orginally bound for perth but (due to family reasons) and posts on here we changed our minds to melbourne, and , for that, i am grateful

I appreciate that you try to help people out with their immigration queries, but if someone gives incorrect advice it's usually because they think it's right - it isn't always but most people are just trying to help and are not doing intentionally posting things that are wrong. So instead of saying that everyone who gives an answer will go to prison because they aren't a registered migration agent, or posting in every thread on the immigration forum that you know better than everyone else, why not just correct them? Or if you disagree with their advice, give the person your veiwpoint.
It is possible to get your opinion across without attacking everyone who tries to help. I think it's great that you are helping people on here for free, but you aren't really coming across as friendly or approachable.
