I think I pissed some of them off at some point (something about saying they were having a circle w**k). And it was all downhill from there...

in general no, but there are parts of the forum which can be a bit difficult at times.
the w****ers that do make things unpleasent are short lived and those who make it enjoyable far out weigh those who dont.

it can seem unfriendly to newbies espec if they ask a question that's been asked a thousand times before and don't get the exact response they're looking for. (luckily I'm not that sensitive)

i was just flicking through another forum.... just interested in finding out how other bricklayers were doing here in perth...
happen to notice a thread that mentioned how unfriendly this site is...
i was just wondering what other people thought as i noticed that some BE members were also members of the site...
is there a clique here...?
is it unfriendly?
i post on here now and again ,and i hope that some of my posts have never put people off coming to australia....
but it would seem that someones post has...

being new to this place is like going to a party full of strangers for the first time

if you sit in the corner sipping your drink few if anyone will talk to you,
and yes it will appear cliquey
if on the other hand you make an effort, introduce yourself, ask questions and offer your point of view you will find that its a positive mine of information
yes you get the knobheads with less than helpful replies but at the "party" you`d just ignore them and get on with finding out who were the adults

I saw a thread that was started about an established member on the forum that absolutely slagged them off it was awful.
There wasnt that many who stepped in to stop it despite how long they had been on here.
I think if you have posted many times you are fine but if you are relatively new some of the nasty comments that people give back have stopped people coming back.
I recently have been on the end of some nastily written comment which completely p****d me off as I had been misquoted in the first place and had no right of reply as the thread was closed.

If EVER you see a thread or post that you aren't happy woth, for whatever reason, please report it- the reports go to all the Mods on that forum, all the SuperMods, and Admin, and there will be someone around that can take a look.
For newbies - the report button is the small blue button at the foot of each post, next to the karma button, and with an exclamation mark on it.
If one of us closes a thread and you feel that it has misquoted you or whatever, you can still report it, or you can pm one of us about it. If we feel your complaint is valid we can then delete the thread altogether. Threads are often closed to stop arguments getting worse - unfortunately this does mean that people can feel aggrieved if they lose their right of reply, but if you contact one of us we will always attempt to put records straight.

What's the point of that?
There's no cut and thrust.
Be a dickhead and you usually get treated like one. Happens to everyone every so often.
I like it here.

either everyone's really friendly, or they're just good at plotting discreetly
