FWIW - I agree with you about London, and I never thought I'd say that. I spent many happy years in London but I was there last weekend and I didn't like it at all.
This isn't central touristy London I'm talking about - it was North London suburbs. It was soooo busy, The traffic was a nightmare even on a saturday afternoon. It was dirty and rough looking. I would never live back there
Or perhaps years of Dorset living has made me soft
