You didn't read the link, did you?

The pipeline were always to bring oil through america, to the gulf coast and export. They made most sense when prices were high, for the Canadians. However, now it doesn't make much sense, particularly since with these pipelines stalled the Canadians have made alternative arrangements to get the oil to a coast. Add in daft 'buy american' stipulations that Trump has bolted in, and it's unlikely they will go ahead anyway.

It's all symptomatic of a trumpish belief that environmental impact assessments is just getting in the way of him making a fast buck. Same as he thought the AG was just getting in his way by upholding the law. He's acting as a dictator in all but name - here's hoping he gets hauled off in cuffs soon.
