Just got a new Toshiba satellite and so far it is ok- apart from having a different keyboard layout to our old UK laptop, so I have to keep hunting for @ and " and delete etc....

Thanks everyone. Will look at ASUS too as there seems to be mixed experiences so far.
I may take out an extended warranty whatever I buy (which I hate doing generally), but for that sort of money it may be worth it.
