I got my first new phone in about 3 years.... the Lg g3 big change from the Galaxy note 1 in as much as this thing really does feel like a proper computer. It understands everything I say to it, which has won me over to voice recognition software. .I'm exploring the limitations of Voice Recognition software right now.

I haven't even got to the hidden aspects of the phone yet, which are supposedly really interesting.

Who said Dyson cleaners are a rip-off in Australia? I have an ancient Dyson handheld that is on its second (failing) battery and is falling apart (tried to take it apart to fix it but it's not easy), so the other day I bought a Dyson V6 Animal handstick vacuum cleaner. Got it from The Good Guys online (using the EBay CLICK15 discount) for $423. I also get a free $99 extra toolkit direct from Dyson. On Amazon.com it's $645 and the cheapest UK outlet (House of Fraser) has it for just under $700! A great piece of kit, light and beautifully designed. Sucks like a hooker on coke. Top tech

Yeah, not bad. I thought they were expensive when I first arrived but managed to get a good one a couple of years ago.

My latest gadget is the Canon 5DSr. Fabulous camera.

Australia cheapest in the world again:

Spring is here and it's property clearance time so in the market for some garden power tools and decided to go down the li-ion cordless path. Stihl was chosen for its quality, durability and warranty (Ozito doesn't cut it at this level unfortunately). So:
FSA 85 Trimmer
MSA 200 C-BQ chainsaw
AP-180 Li-ion battery
AL-300 quick charger

Aussie price: $1050 (with some bar oil, caps, gloves and stubby holders thrown in)
US price: $1323 (MSA 200 saw is not available there so smaller MSA 160 priced)
UK price: $163-f**king-9 (are they serious? 56% more expensive than Australia!)

Great kit. Haven't tried the saw yet but the whipper snipper is awesome. Went through 100m2 of grass and weeds in minutes - like it wasn't even there

Top tech

I just picked up the iPhone 6s Plus at launch, coming from last years regular iPhone 6, and I am very impressed with the bigger screen... I can get alot more done that I would usually lug the laptop around for, much easier on my eyes to read stuff and watch videos, and the camera is just phenomenal, even compared to the iPhone 6. The Optical stabilisation really does wonders for me.

The camera on the iphone 6 plus is a belter for point and shoot. I think the only thing that compares is the Note 5 with its SLR features.

Unfortunately its the only redeeming feature of the iphone 6 plus. Everything else is so yesterday.

Big phones are the bomb. The 6 plus was the first decent phone that Apple have made - all the previous models are basically fashion accessories and toys - and I'm sure the 6S plus is also good but as with all iphones, they are held back by their shitty OS

I aspire to one of them - do you need a regular Hoover as well or does it cope with the whole house? My DH insists it won't be sucky enough! We've got an old handheld at the mo - still going strong but only 3 minutes of suck time.

Favourite gadget? Easy. My new laptop, the Pixel. You will probably not be able to buy it though as it's the hardest laptop to get one's hands upon.

I used to be a Windows guy back in the day. Then there came a day when the boys from Redmond decided to ditch Windows XP and move everyone to Vista. And that's when I decided to ditch Microsoft altogether for a Mac.

I've been happy with a Mac ever since, except for the quality of their products which are all nice on the outside (and in terms of marketing) but hideously cheap and substandard-looking on the inside. My wife's Macbook Air went awol but I still remained faithful. Her second Air deteriorated and gave up the ghost as well after a few years. Suddenly I needed a replacement - a third Macbook Air, perhaps? Not until I did a bit of research.

Funnily enough I thought we all lived in a PC vs Mac world nowadays, with a bipolar solution to our computing needs. But the passing away of my wife's Macbook Air, coupled with my curiosity to research the best available laptop for her, unearthed a third and unexpected option: the Chromebook. Up until now I did not even know that they existed. A third operating system, and run by a major company that knows its stuff in terms of the internet, security, etc.? Wow.

Turns out that this was a hidden gem that has also turned out to be the best laptop that she has ever had. The Toshiba Chromebook 2 (Full HD edition) is a great piece of tech and the wife absolutely loves it. And once I saw how convenient and solid it is I decided to ditch my Macbook Pro for a Chromebook as well, getting the Google Pixel from Google's own flagship store in London when visiting the UK.

I must say it's a wonderful piece of tech and has become my main laptop for all my everyday needs. Pity it's hard to buy though, so getting one is quite an effort...

We've got a pretty big house so using one to do the whole place in one go is unfeasible - battery lasts 20 minutes tops

Suction wise probably better than our 5 year old pull along. Great on hard floors and carpet
