I don't really see what point you are trying to make here. It sounds a bit tit for tat.

Not sure...but they were allowed to build Mecca next to the church in Dundee!

It is not a slight on my pies. It is just common sense.

So I move off to an area who will welcome and enjoy my pies instead of accusing the whole of NY/America/Non Pie eaters of being Anti Pie.

Common sense should be applied. There are plenty of places to build it elsewhere I am sure.

:)

I'd say that if you had purchased the land and believed your pies to be good and available to all and you wanted to regenerate the area which is currently run down then you should be able to build your pie shop and hope that all and sundry would remember how good pies could be and put the sad deaths of previous pie eaters behind them.

Yes, exactly - the reason why New Yorkers don't feel the need to shit the bed about a mosque being built is because they already work, rest and play with Mars ba- with Muslims every day.

It's shitkickers from far away that feel the greatest need to get involved in this town planning issue, think they know all about NY real estate and think they know what Teh Muslins "are really like".

No mosque. They should build some ICBM silos there instead - filled with missiles aimed at Mecca, Teheran, Damascus etc.

Yeehah!

They should start building it right after the first Christian church in Mecca is completed.

so if they won't raise their society to the same level as ours we should lower ours down to theirs.

I'd find another KFC outlet more offensive.

I think it is giving in to extremists (both Muslim and Christian) to disallow the mosque. They want hatred and fear to rule. The US is a better country than that. Banning it would probably make the terrorists happy and moderate Muslims afraid.

To be fair it should be a matter of give and take, mutual respect. As the situation is now the west is seen as a soft touch and we're being manipulated, despised and over-run because of it. Approvals for planning permission to build mosques in the western/traditionally christian countries should be linked to the same for churches in the eastern/traditionally muslim world. For example, in Malaysia consent to build new churches is rarely given.

Exactly: How many times after 9-11 were we told "they hate us for our freedoms"? Well it appears some people's answer to that is to do away with some of these freedoms.

Western democracies hold themselves up as bastions of freedom and decency. That's why I think they are great. They should support actions that encourage the moderates of countries like Malaysia to become more democratic rather than allow the extremists to point at the discrimination of western democracies to help them gain the upper hand.
