It was a little like the episode from S1 when he met up with this old academy buddy. But no I was not expecting that!

Maybe they are building up for something in S3.

Looks okay and the price is similar to the Roku 3. Amazon's Fire tablets are pretty good, although configured more towards their own services. It will be interesting to see if this is the case with their MP. One of the good things about Roku and Smart Hub is that they are not tied to any one service

For $99 it's worth a punt

I must admit, I'm not very impressed with the Roku, etc. They don't offer a lot more than my TV attached PC and things like the Roku Netflix interface is less well featured for searching than the same using a web browser.

A HTPC is always going to be better and more capable than a Roku. It is designed as a low cost streaming device/media player only

BBC iplayer for Windows is pants - although it does have a download function that is not available on Roku/Smarthub

I like the function in the Roku interface that allows you to search all the installed apps for a particular show

Just finished Jamaica Inn on iplayer. Surprisingly for me, I enjoyed it. Well acted and beautifully filmed - although a lot of the dialogue was hard to understand

I see that Fargo (Martin Freeman) is now on Hulu. Might give that a go next

I've only just realised that Netflix has different films in different countries, some are the same but not all.

I found this out by Googling the top 100 films currently on Netflix, when I came to put a film on that I had chosen to watch, it wasn't on in the UK, it was just on in America. Tut!

So I presume Australia will have some films that the UK doesn't have, and vice versa.

If you have an unblock-us subscription you can change your Netflix region easily. We became Mexico the other day because there was something I wanted to watch.

Penny Dreadful

2 episodes in and I'm hooked

It's a gothic horror show which although an American production, is set in Victorian London

Stars Timothy Dalton, Billie Piper, Eva Green and Josh Hartnett

Check it out

Does Billie Piper get her kit off?
