got a bit of progress myself today, they must be on overtime this week  no visa yet though, just a 2 line email saying my CO will 'be in touch shortly regarding my application'. Not quite sure if this is a good or bad sign, hoping muchly it is a good sign and they are going to say YES to me!! Fingers crossed, it's only 50 days till my hubby's UK visa runs out  |

visa approval - timeline and process
hi everyone - new on this site so just thought i'd offer up any help for people with spouse visa application worries as i've been throught the process TWICE now .... long story!!
anyway, OH and i off to melbourne early jan, i have 5 year res visa expiring in dec and he's just been granted his 2 year temp spouse visa 309. Here's our timeline: [LIST][*]decided to get married - hitched in england, jun 07[*]got back from honeymoon and put in both our forms 47sp and 40sp into london[*]forms lodged ONLINE fully 'front loaded' ie with police checks and meds already done including all evidence of our relationship - also included 888 stat decs from aussie mates but 2 of them forgot to include copies of their passport which turned out not to matter[*]after lodging in mid july got the standard confirmation email then week later got telephone interview from our aussie CO at australia house - nervous as anything stuttering and mouth went dry but she was really nice and asked usual questions to back up what we put on the forms eg 'when did you first meet your husband' 'when did you start living together', 'how long were your periods of separation', 'what are your future plans' - to that one i said 'well we're having our first baby so would like to move to melbourne and raise a family...[*]another week goes by and then requested to fill in form 80 'personal particulars for character assessment' as this asks many of the same questions as form 47sp i rang co to ask why we needed to fill it in? she said its just a more detailed form than the online application, so we filled it in... (by the way they are getting rid of the online application from this month i believe which is a shame because its so much easier than the paper version)[*]another week goes by and then asked for evidence of my income in the form of 3 latest payslips (i found this bizarre because originally i had included my end of year tax certificate for the last 4 years, but i honestly don't think she understood what it was - i think she would have been familiar with the aussie 'group certificate')[*]after fretting for another week about the 'complicated' nature of our application (i've been married before to an aussie) WE GET THE VISA HOORAY!! notification by email, so sent off our passports with special delivery reply paid envelopes and week later Oh has his visa![*]flights booked for early november!!! So there you go folks, hope that's helpful for anyone in the middle of applying - and remember whatever you're thinking in your head its usually not that bad!!! All the best to all, Cal |
Re: Spouse Visa Circle - join here!
Hi all - I've posted here before but haven't been on for a while so have just been catching up with everyone's news!
Anyway, I have a question for you - I applied for my de-facto spouse visa in late November 2005, it was granted within a couple of weeks and we moved out here in January 2006. As we're fast approaching November 2007 (i.e. 2 years later) should I expect to receive the forms to do the permanent residency bit soon? Also, we're going to the UK between 1st Nov & 22nd Nov for our best friend's wedding - do I need to let anyone know about this?! Hoping some of you wonderful people can help? :) Rosie x |

As long as you have a valid residency visa that covers you for the time you will be back in the UK so you can re-enter australia with no problem, that should be fine. its only if your visa will run out whilst you are away, in which case you'll need a RRV (residency return visa) which you can get online before you go. hope that helps! |
