i am drafting our forms and in the sponsor form, part e, they ask about your home. I assume this is the home you intend moving to in oz and not the one we currently live in  so if you have no fixed abode to go to, how do you fill this bit in

any assistance will be gratefully welcomed.

should i put other halfs mums address where we will probably start off from

Hi Struth,

Thats we we did, put my parents details as thats where we will be staying until we get ourselves sorted. So I hope it's right as I'll be sending off the form tomorrow now instead of Wednesday (booked a hold for tomorrow!!)

When sending off your application and paperwork etc, did any of you put it in any type of paper folder or anything? It says not to use folders, dividers, plastic sleeves etc which I hadn't planned on doing anyway, but did you put the papers in anything at all besides the silver plastic postage envelope?

I'm so nervous!! It's going to be sent tomorrow!!

is this the address we send it to?

Migration Branch
Australian High Commission
Strand
London
WC2B 4LA

is there anything else I have to do or anything I've missed?

Also do we need to send our passports in with application ?

cheers guys x

Struth - I asked the same question of Ipom who is already out there and she suggested that we just put about our house in the UK, with a note next to it, saying house is to be sold and you expect to bring proceeds to Aus to invest in property there.

thanks for the responses

Kirstyhans, i am still getting bits and bobs together so am not yet ready to post, however, from what i have read they don't like plastic folders etc, so is it not a bit difficult to keep stuff together if its more than one page

Looks like you are ready to roll, do the applicants have to fill in the character form which looks for all past employers etc, i'm kind of confused about that one as well?

where did you get the silver envelope from?

We put down my sisters address and also said that we were coming over with some money to put down on a house.

No we didnt send passports with the application they asked for these once they had said yes , also just put all paper work in the royal mail envelope on its own no paperclips or folders just on its own.

We also only put down last employers details as we had been working for them for the last 5 years, did say what we had done previous but not in deep . and visa was granted in 3 days .Good luck to you all

Sam

Kristy, you're cracking me up! You will be fine! I'm sending you a virtual *drink* , now sit back & chill girl! Before you know it, you will be posting on here saying the payments been taken - & then that the visa has been granted, I promise! x x x

Struth, the silver envelope - do you mean the special delivery ones? If so, I just got mine at the post office when I was ready to send it all off, don't forget to include another prepaid self addressed one, so they can return all of your docs. Good luck ! x

We've been able to 'postpone' our completion date til' the 14th May, so this time in 4 weeks we will be homeless !! YIKES!! OH goes out to Melbourne on Thursday at lunchtime to validate - sooooo jealous!!! But it will be my turn in a month or so. Having to try & reschedule our leaving party, as it was supposed to be at the end of June, struggling though - at such short notice. I feel like I'm dreaming tbh, spoke to my mum this morning, & she can't believe that I will be back finally after all this time away!

Hope everyone is well, & again welcome to the 'newbies' !

Struth - I ended up changing the question that was asked about your home. I changed it to where we are now and added that will be living with parents on arrival. I used about two paperclips for some documents that I felt needed stay together, and then I put the whole lot in a thin cardboard type folder. They say not to but I felt it held everything in place. I didn't use any plastic sleeves or anything. I printed out headings on seperate pieces of paper for a couple of the sections but thats it. We didn't fill out the character form so I hope not lol, I've not heard of anyone else having to do this??? The envelope is from the post office, I just asked for the special delivery silver envelope thingy and they knew what I was on about lol, I also said I needed another self addressed one.

Charb - I knoooowwww, I'm a worrier - always have been and more than likely always will be! I'm terrible! (do people ask you to say 'you're terrible muriel' as I get it all the time!!??!!)

Welcome to any newbies to the circle that I have neglected in the past few days, I've been a bit frantic (which you may have read and if not -ask these lot in here what I've been like!!) when putting my application together! So my mind has been very preoccupied to say the least!

Anyway!! Guess what??

It's sent! Woo Hoo! OMG I can't beleive how pathetically nervous I was sending it. I couldn't think what I was doing when putting the address on the silver envelope thingies. When we came out my husband laughed at me saying he couldn't believe how nervous I was acting considering the visa is for him! I was thinking all these horrible thoughts like I would get home and find some paperwork on the bed that was supposed to go in the application - or worse some paperwork that wasn't meant to go in with the application!!!

Is it bad to want to track it already??

Hey what was everyones time scales again???

I just wanted to say that i am so pleased for you. Well done. Not long to go now, just hang in there the wait can be a killer, but the day you get it a weight will be lifted.

Hello to all the new people. i have been in la la land for a couple of weeks. Going mad. 12 days till we go. It still hasn't hit me yet. Saying goodbye and not feeling too much. I think I am numb. Anyone else feel like this?

Hey Kristy,

Glad it's all arrived, I bet it has taken half the office to sort through all your bits & bobs !! lol !!

We had an email within about 3 days - but it was stating that our payment had declined !!! I had written the wrong card details in the payment section !!! lol !!! Nearly shat myself though - I've never repleid to an email so quickly!!

Then a few days after, we received all our docs back - along with the receipt of payment.

It took 8 weeks from then - but then we did have to explain OH's caution from his 'younger' days ! So that may have slightly delayed it, along with the fact that we didn't have the medical done until about mid Jan. So around 4 weeks from the medical.

RachelH, I'm going for the time I complete my house sale - so Kristy, by the 14/5 I reckon your OH will have his visa!!! This waiting is the worst bit - the unknown, I hated it.
