And by the way, I definitely remember several people saying that they received back their photos, invites and bank statements etc, some as soon as they'd been scanned - before the visa was actually approved. I wouldn't worry, you've got that bloody sticker now - IN THEIR FACES!!!
Sorry... I just had to let that out.:lol:

Funnily enough - they also sent back some of the supporting evidence - the stuff that I sent to prove we were partners such as bank statements, utility bills, copies of invites t places. And they strangely sent back three of my four passport photos and one of OHs - anyone else had this?

:thumbsup:Have a good feel & smell and then put it in a safe place!

Bizarre about the photos etc..but as long as you have the visa who cares!

After all that effort you put in you think they'd at least pretend like they read it... (jokes). I think the fast turnaround was pure karma for actually starting this thread - you're certainly the second best thing that ever happened to me (after Oliver). Every time I think I've got a question I just look back through the thread and it's already been answered. Except one - who do we contact to get police checks done in Australia? I know other people have had to do this bit too...
Once again... CONGRATULATIONS!!!

HI Shelley - I think there is a form on www.immi.gov.au which you fill in for the Aussie police checks and it gives you an address to send it to on there. However I wouldnt send off for them unless they request them - I have spent more than a year in Aus in total but wasnt asked for them

Yeah, we had some of that stuff sent back before she had the email granting the visa.

Coming along nicely then. Got the house selling bit to do yet...not looking forward to that.

With the postal strike, I guess you wont be getting the police checks any day soon

Hello all :)

got a question,

do you need to be with your OH when you validate your visa for the first time? ie can you go on your own? or do they have to be with you?

I think I've read before that they have to be with you - as I think they have to walk through before you or something!

Have just spent the entire evening reading stories ...what an inspired idea ........ would love to join the circle
We have just been tearing our hair out over friends who haven't completed stat decs for us despite months and months of waiting and pleading ..............its so great to see we are not the only ones !!!

I have a question about applying for temp vs permanent spouse visa.
Does anyone know if the Oz HC would automatically grant a permanent visa or would we need to apply .we think we meet the criteria but not sure if its worth applying for permanent visa at this time

I just put in the code for the permanent visa on teh app form as having read other people experience, it seemed I would get it (married for 11 years, 3 kids etc) and I did. I think if they consider there isnt enough evidence or whatever, they will just give you temp even though you have applied for perm - so I would stick down the permanent code!

My OH came out on his own in April & validated then. I know he was certainly on his own, as I was left at home with the child from hell ! lol !

Think that is if you go on one of the other visas where the whole family are on one visa.
