thanks for the responses to my previous queries, you are all very helpful

i have another one for you. On the application form where it asks if you have been to australia before there are spaces to fill in your visa number. I have been twice, but both times it has been on a visitor visa organised by the travel agents and i have no idea what the numbers were!
Is this essential and how will i go about finding this info

thank you in anticipation

If you're referring to the the ETA's, I did not include them in my OH's application. This wasn't questioned at all, & he was accepted no problems!

Hey struth - I asked the same question before on BE and it suffices to just write ETA in the space where the visa number should go! I also went on a working visa for a year 12 years ago but not sure what my visa number would be for that and god knows how I will find out!!

hi there, i got my reply from the immi about children and desent:

Dear Client,

Thank you for your enquiry. If you have citizenship by descent you will need to live in Australia for 2 years before you can apply for citizenship by descent for your child.
See link below:
http://www.citizenship.gov.au/becomi...by-descent.htm

We hope this information has been of assistance.

Yours sincerely

an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority). An ETA visa will let you spend up to three months in Australia.

Hope this helps

Kirstyhans and tearose sorry i have not got back to you sooner with that document regarding sending off your application, but it is an attachment on my yahoo email and i cant attach to this thread, so if you did want it pm me an email address and also when i contacted australia house they said i could send my application without the police check but obviously they would have to wait for it to make a decision.

Rachel h , if you were in australia for a working visa for 12 months check you dont need an australian police check!! my hubbie did

Hiya.....
I did applications for my Hubbys 2 brothers in January for citizenship by descent. They took the money out more or less straight away but neither of them have had their certificate yet
Have you had a letter yet saying that your application has to Canberra for final processing? C x

Yeah just waiting for the pcc checks as I said, it's so annoying as every day I'm waiting for the postie and every day there is nothing from the police! I know I can send the application off now, but I'd rather wait for the police checks really.

Would be great to meet up in Aus! I think my OH will get home sick to be honest, he's a big football fan and I think he will miss that the most!! I think you've got my e-mail address yes?

anyone know then if its likely that I will have to get Aussie police checks having been there for a year on a working visa and then on holiday 3 times for 3 weeks per time?

If so - has anyone else had to do it and how do you go about getting them?

We just put in the dates they can check the rest if they need too. So don't worry.
