Hello, nicos666 Sorry not sure how long your visa will take, but it might be worth booking in for your medicals soon as some clinics i rang have a 6 week waiting time! and prices vary alot. Good luck with visa, let us know whats happening.
Katenh- I was born in Oz and my husband is welsh, and we are applying for spouse visa, we have filled in form 40sp and 47sp, are you doing it online as it tells you exactly what forms you need on the checklist at the end.
Hope thats been of some help

We sent in hubby's application (not front loaded) on 29th Jan and had an email back from the case officer on 7th Feb to ask him to get his medicals done and police check done within 49 days. Police check came back within about 2 weeks (we had already sent off for this) and for the medicals we rang around a couple of localish ones - worth doing as the price can vary quite a bit and also one of them had a long waiting time for the medical. He had his medical done last Monday so assuming a couple of days for the blood test results to come back, hopefully we may hear this week.... There is a website that you can search for visa processing times www.austimeline.com - just type in spouse visas in the UK. If a spouse visa application is front loaded with the medicals etc, then some people have had their visa approved within a couple of days. I would expect contact by your case officer from Australia House any time now - good luck.

He is nearly 15, profoundly mentally handicapped (no language, doubly incontinent, clinically hyperactive and autistic) and has lived in care (voluntary) for the last 5 years. His father (we divorced 9 years ago) and huge extended family on that side remain here. He is very happy where he is, and has a home there for life.

As if I would be so cruel as to take him out of his home and subject him to a 24 hr flight - never mind the stress of a new home.
I fought for years to get him where he is now, and thought I had done all I could for him, seems I have to continue to suffer for my sin of having a handicapped child!!!!!

Yup - they calculate that if he was to come with me, he would cost the state $480k - I have to convince them that he won't go and "deny health or comunity resources to Australian Citizens or permanent residents"

Hi, I'm curious and wanted to ask a question.
My dad (65) has applied as a long term partner of an australian citizen. She has dual nationality and 2 passports.
I wondered if the spouse route was quicker than other routes to gaining a visa. What is the average wait to get a visa ...anyone know ??
My dad has been waiting for about 4 months now...he's had the acknowlegement letter etc etc...nothing else

Try ringing his case worker at the Aus HC and asking what the situation is. They can be a bit tricky to get hold of, but are very helpfull and give what information they can.

Yeeha!!! We got it!!! Has been a really quick (didn't feel like it at the time and sometimes nerve racking experience) but hubby got his visa approval email today. We didn't front load and sent in at the end of January so pretty quick anyway.
A quick celebration...... and then on with the hard work (decorating/selling the house etc etc). And just what is going on with the exchange rates at the moment - can't believe we missed out exchanging our savings when it was 2.54......
Hope you are all okay!

Congrats on getting your visa - what a relief!!
Our police check arrived on monday and made it's way to our CO's desk so hopefully she now has the bits and pieces to put everything to. It's not as exciting as actually getting the visa, but hey! a good thing is a good thing. No matter how small!
