Well we turned up in person at croydon immigration centre and got it done same day (which was good) for 595 pounds. Then after 2 years, you apply for permanent leave which costs 995 pounds I believe.

All UK immigration seemed interested in was the form, passports, civil partnership certificate and my wages. They didn't want anything else in my binder which was huge.

Oh dear, I thought I was ready to send my application, will i definitely need Form 80? or is that at the discretion of the CO?

With form 80 they ask for details of places you have been in the last 10 years - does it matter if you are a bit vague about it - I can't really remember all the dates ... even the years I would struggle to be accurate about and my passport wasnt always stamped! Do they have access to other countries immigration to check it?

So what is effectively the UK equivalent visa it is £1000 more. That's crazy. I like the idea of getting it on the day you apply though! However being Australian I am glad the process is a rigorous one!

Form 80 isn't required as part of your application. However your CO may request it at a later date depending on your application.

If you will be applying for permanent residency at some point in the future you will need form 80 so you may as well do it now as it won't be any easier remembering the specifics in 2 years time!

VISA APPROVED -

my partner received the phone call only 20 mins ago. The CO asked a few q's pertaining to how we met, and then told her that after speaking with her, he would grant her the visa. And as i write this, it has just come through.

We are so happy. We have even just booked one way tickets for May to take advantage of the specials.

Just trying to find out what you guys have been doing with attaching the photos to the forms. I know that you are allowed to staple the medical/xray photos, but are you allowed to staple the ones that go with the 47sp and the 40sp? Silly question I know but it's worrying me!

We put our documents in a big 2 ringed binder, and placed everything in the order of the checklist, seperated with coloured dividers. We placed the required passport photos in a labelled envelope and puncheoles in the envelope. Then placed it inside the folder.

Hope this helps

Cheers so much! I know you're allowed to staple the medical photo, cos it says so on the front of the medical form, but it doesn't say anything about the others... oh my god the stupid stresses I'm reduced to...

Congratulations again guys, we're in a similar situation to you, only met early 2005, not married, no kids etc. I think we have all the paperwork we need

Good form.

What was the turn around then? Less than 2 weeks? Given that you seem to be in the same boat as me it is comforting to know you were successful! I think I will apply as soon as we get the supporting statements together.

How did you go with flights anyway?

Congrats again!

Gday Tim

Thanks mate. Yeah.... we seemed to get through ok. He did mention however that we he needed to speak to us, as our info was borderline. I actually thought i had provided too much, but he said it was the joint account statement and also the talk on the phone that got us her accross.

Flights to Sydney, with Cathay at the mo, are 303 pounds plus tax. pretty awesome deal.
