Hi everyone
We moved from Perth to Melbourne just after my provisional residency visa was granted after stage one. This was in October 2006. We applied for the visa on 17 April 2006. I sent in a change of address form when we moved. We're using an agent and I believe she is the person designated to receive all of our communication. Neither we nor she has received any letter asking for my evidence and forms for stage two and I'm trying to find out when I will receive my paperwork. Originally she told us two months before the two year anniversary after application for stg 1. So that date passed on 17/2/08. Could anyone tell me what happens to your file when you move interstate? Would the Melbourne office now have my file and is it worth a trip to DIAC's offices here to enquire that they have my file and when I should receive my paperwork? I just don't want it end up getting lost or overlooked becaused we moved. Do they assign a new CO regardless between stages one and two? Many thanks in advance for any guidance you can give me... Cheers, Andrea |
Re: Honeymoon/ PMV/ spouse visa!!??!!
Hi all,
Just wondering if someone could help out with a little query! My partner is coming to Aust (hopefully soon) on a Prospective Marriage Visa and we are planning to be married well within the 9 month requirement. We were planning an overseas honeymoon (nothing booked yet ), but we just thought when we get married does that mean the PMV is no longer valid. We know we have to apply for the spouse visa asap, however does it also mean we can't leave the country as well:confused:? The thought only was spurred by a stupid tv show and I have rung immigration in Oz however never seem to be able to speak to anyone who has a clue! Cheers Nattyocean |

Just wondered how most people are notified they have been granted their visa. Via Post or e-mail?
Thanks again. Hope you hear soon- its horrible waiting - I kept on thinking they'd refuse it for some reason, even though it was a straightforward application! |

We also got two photos back which I thought was a bit strange as well - why ask for them if they don't need them?

Its funny also how we worry about being refused the visa when logic and good sense tell us that there is NO good reason for a refusal - I think its because you feel that your life/destiny is in someone elses hands ... or maybe thats just me :o  :D Anyone know how long it takes to get the visa stamp after they receive the passport? I want to book my flights!! yayyy! :D |

Along with the evidence that i asked to be sent back, and 2 passport sized photos - so it sounds like a common thing at the mo. Just make sure you enclose a special delivery envelope. So it didn't take too long at all, and now it looks like we'll be flying to oz next week!! |

Just got to sell my car ever so quickly and arrange to ship my stuff which is already in storage! |
Re: Spouse Visa Circle - join here!
OOOh you're all so lucky - we've still got our house to sell- had somebody viewing for the 3rd time, their house went to a closing date on friday so fingers crossed they'll put in an offer tomorrow. Hubbies going to the Australia needs skills expo on 16th march, so he's hoping he'll get some info on employment. Only thing is, his job isn't on the skilled list so I hope its worth him going, hes got his visa so the immigration bit isn't of much interest. He's production operator offshore. They wouldn't have invited him if it wasn't relevant to him would they? Has anyone been? Hes also got a phone interview this month as well which could be promising!
Whereabouts is everyone going to in Oz? We're planning on heading for Perth area as thats where a lot of the oil jobs are. I was brought up in Tassie, but would prefer somewhere warmer me thinks. Not going all that way to go back to frost and snow in the winter!!!! |

Good luck with selling your car too. I managed to sell mine to the local ford garage last week, which was a huge relief after having no reply's whatsoever from the ad in the local paper. Our boxes are being picked up tomorrow by seven seas, so then there's not much else to do. Phew!! :) |

I don't blame you for wanting a bit more sun after all this miserable weather, you'll have to go somewhere where you can thaw out.. We're flying to Cairns this week to stay with hubbie's mum for a few weeks to spend some time chilling out and trying to forrget about all this migration stress. But we're looking at moving to either Brisbane or Cairns. Still not sure yet   but as we've no kids i guess we can go with the flow more! |
Re: Spouse Visa Circle - join here!
It's been a while since i've looked in on this thread and there's far too much to go through now, so appologies if this subject has already been discussed.
I'm in Aus on a defacto visa, and had a tough time getting it, as we hadn't been together much over the 12 months. Can anyone tell me what further evidence they will ask for for PR? I know they want more letters from people. What I'm worried about is finance in particular, as I haven't sold the UK house, only renting it out, so my money will still mainly be in the UK. Will this be seen as lack of commitment can anyone tell me? Will bills in joint names and a few letters from people who know us be enough? |

From having done lots of forum reading here and elsewhere my general feeling is that it shouldn't be a problem as long as you have good statements to back you up as a couple with shared bills and evidence of a shared life. |

I don't know the answer to your question, but I wonder if maybe you could get a letter from your estate agents explaining that the housing market is somewhat stale/stagnant or whatever you call it, and for that reason it makes better sense to rent it at the moment til the market picks up? Or do a statutory declaration or something to that effect? Just an idea!

Maybe I should put the question on the main thread, as people who have their visas may have moved on. |
