Hi There, am a bit late in joining you all but have only just found this thread.
I'm English and my husband is Australian. We have been together 10 years and married for four. Our 2 girls who are 3 and nearly 2 have dual citizenship.
We are due to be moving out to the Central Coast at the end of the summer if all goes to plan.
All my husbands family live there which will make my life easier when I arrive as I will have my Mother and Sisters in Laws to help give me support friendship and local knowledge.
I met my OH in a bar in Sydney when I was visiting Australia for 2 days, we spent the next year apart only managing to see each other for a 2 days every few months which was hard and very expensive as there where no cheap phone calls then so my phone bill was £100 every month!
After a year he came over here to live for a couple of years which has turned into 9 as marriage and kids have delayed his return. But the call of the sun is strong and he can't face another winter here so its homeward bound for him soon.
I applied for and got my spouse visa last summer which because of the girls and length of mmarriage was given PR which makes life a bit easier as don't have to sort that out in two years time.
We validated my visa last October on a family holiday much to the pleasure of
2 doting grandparents.
Sorry bit of a long thread seems so much to fit in look forward to joining in on all the spouse gossip.

Hello My name is Natalie and I am the Brit. I am in Sydney on a temporary spouse visa.
I met my husband backpacking in 2002, 4 days after arriving in Australia. I was 18, he was 19. After I returned to England we applied for the prospective marriage visa in june 2004, and it was granted in July 2004. We got married in November 2004 and I applied for my temporary spouse visa the following January. My two years has now been up and last week we sent off our paper work for the permanent visa and now we wait!

I just had the response from Oz about my sons medicals.

I don't spose it will be the same for yours as the conditions are very different, but just for the info.

They assess his condition against a section of the migration legislation called 'Public Interest Criterion' (PIC) 4007 which has transitional provisions about wether a persons condition will require any health or community services, and might cause undue cost to the Australian community or prejudice the access of any existing Australian citizen or permanent resident to health care or community services.

From the evidence you have, I don't think you will have any problems, just a bit of a delay.

Yer, sure i'll work that one out !!

We are going to Perth, will be starting in Joondalup for first 3months due to my job and then not sure !! Not coming with a bucket full of money so we'll be moving to where we can afford. Prob some where south, maybe rockingham. Not 100% sure on timescale yet, it'll be anytime after the wedding inAugust and before next June, sooner the better though.

We are also popping over for a quick 2 week reccie this friday, which we can't wait for

We have a small house in Saratoga which is rented out at the moment, we are not sure if we are going to rent something bigger when we get there or live in that while we decide our options which are knock down and rebuild on the land or find something else which ticks all the boxes of things you need with a young family. I like Saratoga, Wamberal, Terrigal and surrounding areas.

GTFC and rancid - sorry, I posted the update before I read your notes about where you were going!

I am so desperate to go as I just had a meeting with my boss today about going back to work after maternity leave.....and it was horrible and I ended in tears...so quite frankly I wish I could tell them where to stick their job right now!!
