hey Chick,
I sent it off today and have been informed by OH its Aussie day today and Aussie bank hol on Monday, even though it was him that told me Aussie day was the 28th!!I knew he was wrong cos I remember from last year, but he knows best - not!! So all good cos I have sent it off n Aussie day. It cost me £20 to send it as it weighed 2.5k and I paid an extra £6 for a stamped self address return special del envelope so they could send me the paperwork I wanted back, girl in post office was really helpful
Wow about your lazy eye, so you have never noticed that before ?? Thats odd ?? I wouldnt worry too much it hasnt effected you up til now, worst case scenerio they said you to an optician for another eye test, but I cant see any reason why it would effect your application, unless you were completly blind!!
I used a polypocket A4 binder and immi said this was fine, I found that easier as held all together and kept it tidy.
I will keep you updated!!

I'm so scared I've forgotten anything.
Checklist:
application forms for me and him.
certified documents of passports birth certs etc.
Statements from us and family and friends
letter from marriage celebrant
Proof of OH's employment from last 2 years
Proof of lasting relationship - photos, cards, details of travelling trips
... have given them the money, stamped addressed envelope and sectioned it all with paper clips! aaarggggh!!!
Yeh about my eye - I knew I had it all my life. Had operations on it as a child, but it doesn't bother me. I have just adapted to live without it, but just wondering if they will see it as a problem.
Ok let me know what happens!!

Congratulations Poppy!! That was really quick. Did you apply directly or go through an agent?

Also, some peeps send in their passport with their application as IMMI have to put a stamp in it anyway. However, it's up to you. We didn't at first and then they requested more information from us and at that time, we put in my OH's passport cheekily with the other bits of info. It worked and we got the passport back that week!
Good luck with your application and good luck to all those who have either sent in their apps or about to!! Fingers crossed!

Hi - it took about 8 weeks for the visa to come thru but we applied directly. Glad we did this as it would have been expensive using an agent.

I wouldnt worry too much about your eye, im sure they would of requested extra tests during the medical, it doesnt stop you from working or anything so they cant look @ it as a negative - surely.
Fingers crossed for both of us
Did Immi get back to you about which visa was the best ?

Hi every one, Me and my australian girl friend found out just before Christmas that we are expecting a child(not planed) and through talking we thought in would be better if we had the child in OZ, She is from ferndale, Perth WA, Due to the limited time we have in this country (uk) we are abit worried that i will not get in to oz. Im a qualified Electrician to Trade and have gained a wide work experience in this country from Inspection and testing, working with solar panel installation on light house, house hold and industrial electrics and currently working for hutchison, Mobile company '3' doing inspection and testing, Fault finding and mast inspections. We are currently looking at going down the route of spouse visa which can take about 12 weeks but the problem there is that we do not have any evidence of living togeather as my work take me all over scotland and i have my own place and so dose she. we spend all the weekends together and when im working in glasgow i stay with her. The spouse visa requires 12month of evidence of being together and statements from her friends that we are a couple and in a relationship.
Im trying to gather as much info as possible and it seems to be like try to find your way through a mine field. Im tempted to get the visa then apply for the WA electricians licence when im out there and work as a electricians mate until i get the licence.
Im finding it all abit confusing at the moment, Any help or advice would be grateful, Many thanks. Gavin

Dont forget your character checks and proof of meds - receipts they would have given you. You should of seen how complusive I was on sat, I checked it so many times!! But i suppose if something is not quite right, they need to take into account human error - fingers crossed anyways!! You wil be fine, send it off and forget about it until you hear from them, i missed the deadline for the parcel to leave post office on sat, so wont get there until tomrorow.

I don't have my PCC back yet - will be another 3 weeks for that and no didn't put the receipt from the medical in. I figured it wouldn't be there for another 2 weeks anyway so will let them know it has been done when they ask?
I didn't bother asking immi about which visa in the end - just went with the PMV as convinced myself this was the right one. I did, though, put in the extra space bit a note relating to question 2 asking which visa you are applying for saying if you think I have enough evidence for a spouse visa under de-facto rules, I would appreciate changing my visa to that. (sounded better when I wrote it!) I thought it couldn't hurt to put the idea into their head.
Now I'm petrified I haven't included enough stuff tho! what the hell did you send that made it weigh so much?!!
Mine will get there tomorrow too!!!! aaaarghh!!!

you should go for the Prospective Marriage Visa is my advice. Presume you are intending to get married at some point? You just might need to bring the date forward a bit! Don't need a lot of evidence that you have lived together, just that you have a genuine relationship (you will write a statement detailing how you met etc) and you need to book a wedding in Oz (just need to book a marriage celebrant and get them to send you a letter saying you have booked it and filed a Notice of Intended Marriage - not difficult and costs around £50). With that and lots of info proving you met, you are having a relationship etc and it should be quite quick.
I say that but I have just sent off for the same visa today so don't know as much as some people on here. If you look through this forum though you will see lots of people who applied for the same visa and it seems easy enough.
Good luck!

I'm the english one - met my australian other half in Oz a few years ago. He's been over here on a working holiday visa for 12 months. We were planning on getting married and all that jazz, but just kind of booked it and got engaged in the last few months to make the visa process easier.
Don't worry, it all looks like a mammouth task that you'll never get to the end of, but once you start looking into it, it's not that bad and you'll soon start mounting up what you need.
You could go for the skills visa route, but I think it takes a lot longer to process and the Prospective Marriage visa is quite quick if you have a valid case and all the bits and bobs that you need.
I can't claim to know a lot, but I have been where you are right now, so feel free to ask me anything you might need. Jutang on here is great too - she just sent off for the PMV and is very thorough in her knowledge so I'm sure she will offer any advice .... in between pretending to do some work!!!!!

oh god I am so scared now! I just got back from sending it and mine was sooo much smaller than yours! was something like 0.45kg so I must have included much less!

I reckon if your CO thinks it can be upgraded, he wil upgrade, but defacto couples are normally couples that have no intention to marry, I reckon the PMV is defo the right one, it may be more costly , but I reckon alot less hassle.
They told me in the post office to check my del online via tracking number after 1pm tomorrow, did they tel you that too ??

Becca is right, the PMV is the best option , the fact that your Aussie gf is pregnat with your child is also a good sign, just make sure you go to all the maternity things with her and that you are put down as the father of the child in doc notes etc etc, just be on the ball, collect as much evidence of your relationship, even going to a solicitor and drawing up a will togeether will show intention of life long commitment - the fact that you are not living together is not a prob with the PMV, but you wil need to prove more commitment once you apply for your spouse , but by then you wil be liivng in OZ together. The best thing you can do is search the forum for a guy called George Lombard or Welshtony , they wil be able to give good advice as they are immi agents. There will not be a prob in getting your PMV, especially as you will have a child together, make sure you advise immi of your status. Good luck!!
