Me thanks I will have a bottle of red. My ancestors worked on the land so you could have a better life..1963 i think it was, the local neighborhood never looked so pretty. Australia owes me for that at least.

Australia is not the UK I know, just getting it out of my system now. Anyway Australia owes me a visa, I have paid for it, although after tonight I may not be let in!

Don't see many conveying any real gratitude to Australia. Barely a week goes by without me thanking my lucky stars that:
a. Australia exists.
b. I found it
c. It welcomed me when I wanted to stay.

Australia doesn't owe us anything. We owe it.
I have to disagree, Australia is a far better place for having me here and definitely owes me, vis-a-vis:

I employ 9 lazy arsed locals
I have a much higher IQ than the average Aussie
I keep a roof over the head of at least 10 locals via my rental properties
I encourage friendly driving ie waving to people, flashing people out at junctions etc
I export Australian made goods to UK
I don't take myself too seriously and encourage humility

so there

I think it is a bit contentious but true. I see a lot written that often reads about why Australia doesn't show this on TV or do it this way etc. In my job I am lucky to experience many different cultures who each bring something to Australia but at the same time take something from Australia back. It's true it is NOT Britain in the Sun. It is a country in its own right with many different influences that makes it unique. Still not sure if its for us but not because it doesn't do this or that but because I don't know if we want this or that.

Cheers

Ginny
