Brighton? what's all this about? You guys from Brighton too? Although I live in Scotland, I am from Brighton. Did I mention that? It's the place to be, you know or so the council says. House prices going down though so you may grab a bargain. I got one I'm selling if you interested and want to go back.

Hi Stokesy, well I am an aussie, and would love to live in the UK. Have many great friends over there, and just love the place. I have been there over 30 times so know the place very well.

Sick of dog poo round my area and kids hanging about smoking in their designer trainers and tracksuits whilst their parents probably spend their money on fags and beer instead of giving their kids a good diet. I am sick of political correctness where you can get put away for giving a cheeky scoundrel a clip round the ear. I am sick of the suing culture. I am sick of selfish people who park in mother and child spaces just because they want to park right outside the supermarket. I need to escape!! Will Australia give me what I am looking for? Is it a better life? Is it just same old thing wherever you go?

cheer me up. Please!!! Tell me you are standing in your gardens in Oz, having a barbie and the sun is shining. Cold one for me please!!

we moved out from north of scotland and as others have said, australia has it problems too. but for us anyway, not nearly as many as scotland. teenagers will be prats no matter where you are in the world but you dont get the neds here and I see far fewer younger people smoking and drinking - it does go on but to a lesser extent, at least where we are living. i read the "crime" pages in the local paper - so and so got their fence kicked over - and i think, if only it had been like that back in scotland, i might still be there.

there are also some UK folk that you just don't see in Australia (except for my current visitors) they are the sort that you are embarrassed to be associated with when overseas they are a breed unto themselves and i don't ever see any of them here.
they are
1) old blokes in patterned jumpers with a tie and cloth hankies in their pockets who do train spotting and twitching
2) old women with scarves sharp pointy umbrellas that shout at kids on the bus and are always first in the queue at jumble sales
3)well dressed people with dirty houses and underwear (work in A&E and you'll know what i mean)
4) people who only buy and wear things from M&S
5) young people who's whole lives are devoted to getting pissed and shagging (oh that was me 25 years ago!!!)

does anyone know more?

I love this site. so un-PC. Just what I have been looking for.

I do some voluntary work at a housing charity but getting fed up with that cos all the clients are just useless tw**s who bring problems on themselves ie. getting eviction notices for loud music and parties. One woman rang me up and said she had an eviction notice for not paying the rent. Oh yeah? Well fancy that. She even said she thought they would let her off over Christmas. I nearly pissed myself laughing. I must try that one with Alliance and Leicester when they want their mortgage payment this month. 'Oh, hello? is that downtown Delhi call centre? Yeah, well I thought being as it was Easter, I might take a payment holiday. Is that ok?'. Yeah, no worries mate.

Sorry, but I am really beginning to empathise with Michael Douglas' character in Falling Down. I don't have a shotgun or anything so I won't be going on the rampage but that scene in the traffic jam. I know how he feels.

other ones not to miss:

- people that are so pale cos they spend all day indoors watching Jeremy Kyle

- Mums that turn up at the school looking like they must have up since 4am doing hair and make up and look at you like you are the dirt on their shoe

- people on public transport that look at you like you are insane if you smile at them or pass a pleasantry

- miserable sods generally

- Chavs

Right, how long does it take to process a spouse visa? I'm coming out!!

When i was out shopping with my children and having a bad day with them some lady came up to me and said " Oh don't worry love it gets worse as they get older", and i thought how can it, and to this day i still hear those words, as boy was she right.
Being 19 and 17 i can tell you its one of the hardest times of my life, well and my husbands as well.
When i think back my parents had five children and my husbands parents had four, and on both sides the children had left home at eighteen to start their own lives, but now they seem to be at home longer and weather in UK makes them sit inside watching tele and playing PlayStation's more, having traveled to warmer country's when the children were younger, we have had the chance to see what a difference the weather makes for them and us, but i still want to make sure that all the other aspects of emigrating can be better prospects for them and us as well.
Its very easy when you are fed up and had enough to think that it will be better on the other side, but i think you have to do a lot of research and if possible experience it if you can to know if that is right for you.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have spent a fair bit of time in Oz. I was out there for about 8 months before I had the children. Went back when I was pregnant and we went back for 3 weeks last year too. as we have family there, we do have good insight into what life is like there, but you still wonder if it really is 'all that'. The only thing I can definitely say is that people are happier and I experienced that myself though don't know for sure if that is the holiday effect. But I was there for 8 months originally working(but didn't have kids then). My children are now 3 and 4 so would be good time to go. Did anyone see article in Daily Mail on Friday? Sometimes though you can research something to death. IF it feels right, maybe you should just do it?

Thanks for everyone's comments xxx

Dole bludgers, single mothers, generations who have never worked, teens in malls and parks, people who spend welfare on pokies and drugs instead of kids, binge drinking and ice. Political correctness gone mad, litigation culture, people who ram trolleys into your car, little boxes and crap neighbours all here. But its generally sunnier:D

You said your a daily mail reader, the aussie equivalent is A Current Affair, Today Tonight, Anna Corin:rofl: and The daily telegraph, or queenslands Sunday Mail, or search on bogons, hoons, and ferals.

Coming from a grim area of scotland it will probably look a lot better but if you get a job on the housing commission, or centerlink, you will see the same scumbags as the UK has. If thats your job, your going to see it, no escaping that.
