I didn't vote, because I think you should do what makes you happy. But, just a thought...Could it be that wearing/wanting a Storm Troopers costume is the reason why you don't have a significant other? 
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there is some woman out there (probably at a Star Trek convention) who would find the costume sexy, but are you sure you want to date her?

I like nice guys. I married nice guys - both times. I think it's more because you're smart and that frankly scares the sh*t out of a lot of women. I find smart men fascinating. I find men in comic book costumes just freaky. It makes me think of Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons.
