And what does that have to do with anything? Your arguement is melting quickly mate.
The bottom line is, you ventured onto this forum room to have an argument and didn't like the banter that was going on between established cross-Hadrian's wall relationships. The fact that you have joined many of the debates in a similar manner on many of the other country forums just suggests to me the original point, you have a chip on your shoulder and can't accept the fact that the majority of English people are sick of the threats of divorce and just want it over and done with. |

What is my argument exactly? You seem to be the one twisting my words from "british" to "english". My original point was that Scots are just as guilty of calling British things their own as the English are, which you are suggesting is exclusive to the English.

Perhaps you should check my profile as a few others agree with me. Not aware if you can see my karma, but if so give it a go. Here is a quote from my first post in this thread.

This thread is for the purpose of debate. Not for badmouthing the Scots. You want to know why the Scots have a chip on their shoulder in the first place, then look back through this thread and see the constant mockery of Scotland that has been posted by the English. Do you not see your own ignorance? How can you make fun of Scotland, but at the same time complain that the Scots have a chip on their shoulder?

Re: Scottish Independence
FFS it is minor compared to the crap I got in Scotland. You have a very thin skin and seem obvlivious to the attitude some of your countrymen have.

Something which you have yet to prove.
No, I did not venture here to start an arguement. I just ventured here to express my disgust at the attitude displayed towards my country. Any remotely patriotic person would do the same. Perhaps you should check my profile as a few others agree with me. Not aware if you can see my karma, but if so give it a go. |

We are perfectly happy with BritishExpats thanks very much. Though I do wonder some days that perhaps it is in need of a change! EnglishExpats.com springs to mind. :p;)

This and every other thread relating to Scottish independence have at least one Scottish person leaving the conversation due to the ignorance of others. Does that not tell you something? While I am sorry if you "got crap" in Scotland, I have been on the receiving end of racial abuse by English people many times. In England and abroad. Scotland isn't perfect. Neither is England/Wales/NI/wherever. |

Thin skin? That's actually funny because everyone who knows me says the opposite. I'm not defending everyone in Scotland, but Broad shoulders seems to think it's ok to have a go at Scotland. Like I said, I'm a patriotic person, so whenever someone starts talking a big steamy pile, I can't let it slide.

Yes, you are digging deep. Just because something was first mentioned in an English book, does not necessarily mean that it originates in England.
Edit: Hell, the article you linked has no conclusive proof of origin. And I have never EVER heard a Scot claim a British thing as Scottish. English person claiming a British thing as English. Absolutely. Even worse, English person calling Britain "England". Seen it far too often. |

Yeah. It tells me the Scots are thin skinned and have a chip on their collective shoulder.
Anywho, I'm off to bed. |

It would be like Queensland separating from the Australian Federation.

I agree completely on the haggis issue, it could well have been around in Scotland for centuries before it first appeared in an English book. Just because they hadn't learned to write up there doesn't mean they couldn't cook offal;)

[QUOTE=iamthecreaturefromuranus;9846888]I don't think I've ever had any... I'll stick with the British/English/Welsh/Irish/Scots* black pudding.
I have no idea where the stuff came from originally. It's minging anyway. :D |
