That doesn't answer the question, I asked whether Scots do, not you. You know full well many Scots do this but it doesn't support your argument.

My point about God Save the Queen is that it is YOUR national anthem too. When Scots boo it surely you can understand why the English take offense to it?

Hell, even the French and Germans don't boo our anthem!

No. The only English thing I can think of Scots claiming as their own is the Kilt(apparently). I can honestly not think of a time when I've heard a Scotsman claim an English invention as "Scottish". You seem to already have made up your mind that I'm lying, so perhaps you'd care to enlighten me.

Yes, but the aforementioned National Anthem has a few nasty things to say about Scots. It is also boring. Besides, we have the Flower of Scotland, which even the Scots who favour the Union love.

Stop trying to tar us all with the same brush mate. One (or even one large group) do not speak for all of us.

But you're happy to say that you speak for all Scots when you say that they don't claim British things to be Scottish, just because you don't do it.

Perhaps it has something to do with the anti Scottish lyrics? Or perhaps it has something to do with how boring "God save the Queen" is. Now look at the Brazilian national anthem. That's a proper one.

As it happens, I have been to one football game in my life. And I was pretty much dragged to that. It was Scotland V Italy. The crowd were singing "We hate England" pretty much the whole time. I was puzzled. At one point, I even shouted "They're not even playing England".
Got a few funny looks at that. But I'm guessing you were talking about a Football crowd. I won't even begin to defend them. Anyone that tries to turn a simple game into an excuse for violence is not my kind of person.

That's just a lie. I've been to loads of Scotland games and the Tartan Army never sing "we hate England" never mind for the whole match.

What percentage of the national debt will an independent Scotland take on?

Who pays for the pensions of those who have lived on both sides of the border or migrated to places like Australia?

Will there be reciprocity on benefit entitlement, health care, and education?.

Pound or Euro? If it's the pound how would Scotland have any influence over its own currency if all policies were determined by the BofE, which really would become the bank FOR England?

How will the armed forces be split up?

Who gets control of nuclear submarines on the Clyde?

...and on and on and on.

I'm not "happy to speak for all scots" but with all due respect, growing up in Scotland, I've met countless scots and I've never noticed anyone do that.

By your logic, every english person must want to riot and trash england. After all, look how many did it last summer... Stop twisting things mate.

It was at fir park Scotland v italy under 21-s. It was in 2005 and was notable as one guy started a fight with the other sides goalie. (I remember he grabbed the guy and pushed him back towards the net).

I've never ever ever ever heard a Scot doing the whole 'Scottish' thing and meaning English.

Just doesn't happen.

I've never said "English" throughout this, I've only referred to Scots claiming "British" things as Scottish.

The majority of Scots that I know do not refer to themselves as British for starters

And what does that have to do with anything? Your arguement is melting quickly mate.

YOU are saying categorically, that NO Scots do this. I am simply showing you a centuries old example of it, and now your response to this example is to dismiss it because I am "digging deep". It actually came up in the first few results of a google search of "scots stealing british things" ;)

I've certainly never claimed to be anything but Scottish and it certainly doesn't bother me an English person claiming to be English.

- and no, Scottish people don't claim British things as their own. :) I don't know why, but I do hear or read constantly English people relating to 'England' when they are referring to something British.

Yes, you are digging deep. Just because something was first mentioned in an English book, does not necessarily mean that it originates in England.

Edit: Hell, the article you linked has no conclusive proof of origin.

And I have never EVER heard a Scot claim a British thing as Scottish. English person claiming a British thing as English. Absolutely. Even worse, English person calling Britain "England". Seen it far too often.
