The Sci-fi thread

Maybe, but do they really need to be remaking movies like Robocop and Total Recall? These were great the first time around and don't need re-imagining. And how many ******* re-makes of Spiderman do we really need?
Lets dig out some decent sci-fi works and make new films instead of re-hashing existing ones.

Well, okay, I was drunk when I read the interview in Total Film and misunderstood Ms Johansson - they're doing a film about the making of Psycho called Hitchcock.

Too many of these shows lose what they were originally about and end up focussing on the interactions between the characters and who is doing what behind the scenes. this is great for something like Game of Thrones, or Mad Men, but it loses the momentum when the antagonist is not in the main group of characters - Like Caprica, or The Walking Dead.
Jeez - the Walking Dead - Are they ever going to leave that ******* farm?
The walking dead Season 2 - Arguing on a farm. The end.

I like GOT but man, it's complicated - and hard to follow.
I enjoyed S1 of TWD but have yet to start S2.
MM - maybe one day.

30mins of angsty dialogue between characters costs little and is more like 'proper' drama, where they can get some cred from their peers and maybe an award.
Frankly, if I wanted to watch Eastenders ....... well I'd slit my throat actually, but the fact remains that SF should be about big ideas, not whining little shits bemoaning how their father never loved them.
The TV series is a lot easier than the books; lots of trimming been going on, and not a few of those angsty bits added that weren't there originally.
