A biker has been banned for hitting the fastest ever speed on a Scottish road - 166mph.

This beats the previous best of 158mph set by a Tennent's Super Lager delivery driver passing through Glasgow.

You could still get your hub caps nicked at those speeds going through Liverpool.

When I was in the UK I worked with Scots from all over the place (Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness, Dundee, Kilmarnock, Edinburgh, etc.) and I eventually grew accustomed to the various different accents. I even picked up some of the Scots dialect and a handful of colloqualisms ("Get it up ye!" was arguably the most useful). But hell's teeth, the people on The Scheme are hard work! Even allowing for the accent, the bottom line is that they just don't enunciate their words properly. They mumble, gabble and slur.

Painful, painful stuff to watch. Each new generation perpetuates the mistakes of the previous one. They're locked into a cycle of socio-economic dysfunction.

I almost choked on this one (the pregnant girl) as she happily told the cameras that her boyfriend had attacked her as a pregnant woman. Isn't she doing the same to her own body/unborn child with fags and god knows what other drugs?

Good point. Two hundred years ago they would have been deported to Australia.

The Royle Family and Shameless seem pretty normal to me... I even used to drink in the pub used in Shameless.

I used to know a family that were so like the Royle Family it was scary. I lve the show, but it does bring back so many memories of them that its almost painful to watch at times.

Got the popcorn ready for tonights show. The best bit of last weeks show was the bit where Daddy Cunningham went on about how he managed to get his son's drug debt dropped to a hundred quid, he went on to say something along the line of "he's paid thirty so only owes sixty now" , class.

Watched the whole of the first episode. As usual it's the blokes on the drink who cause the most destruction and mayhem. Sometimes I think those religious types were onto something trying to stop the masses drinking.

The aimlessness of a lot of them is what stands out for me. And the good people trying to control the mayhem. That poor father - I hope his son learns something from prison rather than gets destroyed by it.

The smoking, WOW, everywhere around the little kids, even smoking when pregnant!!!

As an aside this program would probably be subtitled if shown in Australia. I was wondering whether a UK channel would ever use subtitles for shows like this or would they be pilloried for subtitling their own citizens?
