The Rugby Union Thread

Um ..... errrrrr ..... you jumped in on this thread banging on about AFL crowd numbers with some photo of a pub. No mention of the British economy.
Since then you've been throwing out odd comments. Strange stuff about Spain, British economic conditions, drinking talents of football crowds.
I think you may have lost it. That's ok. Rugby accepts all sorts, even lunatics. Welcome aboard the rugby world cup bandwagon. Enjoy the ride.

I wondered aloud why I could see all the glass bottles at the rugger but it isn't allowed at other sports. After you denying the England exit would have an impact I pointed out the economic loss.
I'm not a great union fan but I do like it more than you do AFL and tennis despite your copious posts in any threads to do with those sports. I'll watch our matches and Scotland's for as long as we both stay. As I hadn't posted until recently, so I won't post again.
I'll try to remember in future to ask your permission to 'jump into a thread'.

Just on beer - a young guy took his disabled friend to Twickers for England vs Australia (both England supporters). After the match when he was pushing his friend's wheelchair out of the ground he accidentally bumped into the heels of an England supporter who stopped in front of him. The guy turned around and knocked the one pushing the wheelchair unconscious. Spectators nearby grabbed the offender and summoned police and medical help. The guy was taken away. The one knocked unconscious received a phone call from the police next day (not to enquire how he was) to tell him they weren't pressing charges - the guy had apologised!!!! Would the same thing have happened if it happened at Stamford Bridge or the Emirates or another London ground? Probably not I'd say.
There have been protests about it because the guy's father wrote a letter to the papers.

If the punched guy wanted to lay charges then the police would be obliged to investigate and make an arrest if appropriate - apology or no apology. The ball is very much in his court
Use of the word Twickers (along with others like rugger and blighty) deserves (make that requires) an immediate punch in the face
This is the 21st century not the 1950's hooray henry British Empire

Big holes in your story - half a story probably

I'm chuckling at you of all people who continually thump the drum about how great the British Empire was and how much they've done for the world pointing out that it isn't the 1950's.

Last post in rugby thread, I'll leave it to you guys to continue it.

I was quoting the letters page in my paper - the guy's father wrote in on his behalf.

Well since you need to have the dots joined up, I only came into the thread when the crowd figures at Twickers and NRL were mentioned and I gave the AFL GF attendance. You mentioned Fiji and Uruguay sold out but it was at some 'wee' stadium. I also commented on how the RWC has gone a bit flat with England's exit but you disagreed and said I couldn't ascertain the mood here (but you could with your internet connection). You then did your usual bit of disparaging the MCG for lacking atmosphere and not being a rectangle and not following your modern principles of design.
I wondered aloud why I could see all the glass bottles at the rugger but it isn't allowed at other sports. After you denying the England exit would have an impact I pointed out the economic loss.

Even questions like why did the England scrum get penalised so much .....
. Just don't do silly things like draw comparisons with AFL or try and turn rugby into a class debate. You will lose every time.

Ok, can we please revert back to rugby discussion and not ping pong.
Thank you.
Thank you.
