If I remember correctly it was the men who asked me to marry them, not that they "agreed to get married". As for the joint account, I would have preferred to keep my money mine and the old man's debts he came into the marriage with his. I think it's usually the woman who "agreed to get married and have a joint account".

Maybe that just shows that it's women who need their heads read.

There is no issue and I was incorrect and misguided with my initial post.

There was an add on a few weeks ago I think for virgin. A bloke was bending over to get something out of the car and the women gave him a slap on the arse and a wink to the camera lol Imagine the reaction by feminazis if that was the other way around. So many adds out there at the moment where if roles were reversed they would never get out.

Seems every other add is mocking the male these days, even my wife says she doesn't take the adds seriously and is bored with it.

All the feminazi's have gravitated to TV advertising! In all honesty I couldn't give a **** and flick over, but kids these days are supposed to be shown positive male role models / trying to get Fathers more involved and all this negativity doesn't help.

Good article here - men are not idiots - http://www.aef.com/industry/news/data/2008/8014
Interesting. It hasn't gone unnoticed that men, usually in their capacity as husbands and fathers are incompetent and childish and require their wives or girlfriends to get things sorted for them. If an advert featured a woman giggling at a TV show about shoes while her husband shook his head and raised his eyes to heaven before phoning up and paying the gas bill, there would be an outcry, but the reverse is very common.

Like moneypenny says though - who watches them? I have a CD in the stereo at all times and most songs are the length of an advert break. Adverts come on - TV is muted, song is put on, eyes closed & listen/cup of tea made/visit to smallest room/etc.

As far as I am concerned , advertisements are a great system wherein private companies pay TV stations to give viewers a break to make a cup of tea and not miss their programme. Thanks guys!

Kind of obviously, women.

And also kind of obviously, it's pandering to real prejudices/desires in their minds.

There is a meme that men are useless and it's the women who are the driving force behind successful men (men are incapable of doing anything themselves). Strangely you don't tend to see the meme where men are held back by women, and where men do better without them in a wife role (despite quite a few practical examples to call on).

And if you ever do point out the pretty obvious sexism in this, the usual response is to get even more of this sexist viewpoint in return - as if somehow that makes it better.

Sooner or later, someone is going to bring and win a court case in this area - and then all hell will break loose.

Are us men actually a minority now? I'm totally ok with rubbish ads with rubbish jokes making fun at a dimwitted bloke who always gets out smarted by his female other half. I go to work the next day and earn more money than the female equivalent

I'm really looking forward to the new series 'House Husbands' on Nine. I can't wait to see what a bunch of useless kernts they all turn out to be. I'm sure it'll have me laughing my cock off.

I was too until I realised it's on 9 which means it will be 20 minutes of shite advertising per hour long show.
