Default Portrayal of men / Fathers in the media

Anyone else noticed the depressing portrayal of us blokes in the media these days.

In TV advertising it seems we are fair game. Made out to be bungling brain dead morons incapable of simple tasks until the Female steps in to save the day with her super hero powers. Or in the case of adds like Kmart we don't even figure as a demographic they care about.

There was an add on a few weeks ago I think for virgin. A bloke was bending over to get something out of the car and the women gave him a slap on the arse and a wink to the camera lol Imagine the reaction by feminazis if that was the other way around. So many adds out there at the moment where if roles were reversed they would never get out.

Seems every other add is mocking the male these days, even my wife says she doesn't take the adds seriously and is bored with it.

All the feminazi's have gravitated to TV advertising! In all honesty I couldn't give a **** and flick over, but kids these days are supposed to be shown positive male role models / trying to get Fathers more involved and all this negativity doesn't help.

Good article here - men are not idiots - http://www.aef.com/industry/news/data/2008/8014

Are you serious? They're fricking ads not Federal Government policy. 'Even my wife'! FFS, I'd brain you for that comment. Who watches them? That's why you either record everything and fast forward or you download it from somewhere else or you watch ABC or SBS.

Far out.

Most adverts are aimed at women because they shop. A lot more than men.

Doesn't bother me.

But in the real world women can't drive, can't navigate, can't lift things, are emotionally unstable and are scared of spiders

Give the kids more credit!-not everything they see/hear they take as gospel...
These 'feminazis' must be a minority right? None of my female friends would ever take offence at that!! It's funny!

I'd kind of like to see someone take the anti-men bits of current adverts, turn them round, then put them all together in one advert.

When you got the inevitable outcry you present the cut together bits from the other ads and call the complainers sexist hypocrites. No only would the media attention be great for the advert - the gnashing of teeth would be heard from orbit.

Having lived in a society where females were treated as inferior for several decades I don't think a few ads are much to moan about. Try living a life being designated as an inferior being and then see if a few characterisations really upset you.

They've been making fun of men in domestic situations since at least the early 80s...!
