Being high up the place is out of reach of any tsunami. The locals are far more weird but is probably Shire inbreeding.

You still require the critical mass to get the reaction going though, so even though the masses are significantly less than a commercial reactor, Lucas Heights could still happily melt down if the correct string of circumstances were to occur...
