'We' for me means GB or Aus. If either appear to be beating the other there would be a momentary 'agh what do I do' but then it's a cheer for whichever. I very weirdly did cheer the French on when they beat the US in the 4x100 freestyle. Don't think I've ever cheered the French on for anything before.

Had a wonderful day at the cycling road race yesterday in Surrey, the riders came past a couple of times and the rest was watched on a big screen in the pub :D the atmosphere and friendliness of everyone was superb. Whilst the result was obviously disappointing for the British fans the day will go down as one of the best sporting occasions I have attended.
What were the Germans and Aussie teams thinking? They have sprinters capable of beating Cavendish in a sprint as has been shown in the TDF but decided they would rather loose themselves than doing any of the work, basically the Pelloton was run by 4 riders doing 95 percent of the work when they were chasing a group that had up to 20 riders sharing the work. Hope Wiggo has something left in the tank for time trail after basically riding himself into the ground. Loved Cavendishes response to the loss and the way he praised his teammates for basically working like dogs to set him up. After the 9th climb it came back together but the GB matches were burnt. I predicted on other road racing forum that the break would come after BH. I race on that loop, a lot, and it's the time to make the break. I think GB knew that was a risk but couldn't pull it back. Tempo drilling on the front works well when you have 8-9 riders, not 4 and a sprinter keeping his powder dry. My pick before the race was Sparticus, that course had 'Classics' written all over it. It's a shame he crashed. Good race though, fantastic win by Vino, not popular though for obvious reasons. |

This thread is TL;DR so apologies for butting in to your collective bitchfest without reading first to see if it's been covered.
Anyway, who else is trying to watch the coverage on the BBC Sports web site? anyone having trouble with loads of buffering, making it unwatchable? which is a great shame as it looks like it could be great. |

Had a laugh out loud moment earlier. After the wailing and gnashing of teeth from a few about the 4x100mtrs Freestyle, saw a reporter on Foxtel asking their coach what had gone wrong. He just looked at the reporter and said 'they didn't swim fast enough'. They're not all up themselves. :D

Where the hell did Italy come from. They're a solid 3rd in the medal race. I suspect it won't last but bugger me that was a surprise.
