They know how to lose - the papers are full of Silver medals stories..and glum looking athletes.
You're comparing different papers though - is one a tabloid? I've been consistently looking at the Australian and they're pretty negative. There's no point in comparing to the UK - they've broken their drought. Yesterday's Australian had coverage on Higgins and Redgrave. Haven't yet seen what their position is yet on the sudden increase in Brit medals. |

And GB wins the Fours...!!!!! I remember the same feeling back in 2000 when Redgrave et al won it. I was shouting hoarse. We said we didn't mind who won this one - I wanted Australia to win just to get another Gold... And now the ladies...Congrats..the BBC is showing GB in 3rd.... |

Exactly, they were expected to do well in swimming, the velodrome, rowing and others but have fallen flat.

Swimming is just one area of the Olympics, and not the only area where Australians have come up quite a bit worse than normally expected. Another example of this is in the velodrome with Anna Meares who didn't even place in the final.

Re: The London 2012 Olympic Thread
Wow what a day for British Olympic sport, incredible from start to finish, 6 gold medals in 1 day. For me Mo Farah was the pick of the bunch, gutsy gutsy run. I have had a lovely holiday so far but today I feel very very happy to be in the UK whilst the games are on.
