The lack of variety does mean you tend to cook most things from scratch which is obviously much healthier. It would be nice though on those occasional days when you have no time or are unprepared there was more choice other than the awful fast food take aways or a roast chook and salad from woolies. If you can get there before closing ;)

We are inundated with choice in my area, I think Victoria Point (Population 13,753 in 2006) has 4 or 5 bakers, 4 butchers (varies from expensive to budget), 2 Woolworths, 1 BiLo, 1 ALDI plus loads of smaller shops. Then 10-15 minutes away we have the major shopping centres !

It really pays to ask the locals, and find the best options.
