I give in, I've seen far more 'riskier' posts on here yet I'm the one that's getting slaughtered!

its not about "riskier"posts mate it's about intention. The largest majority of people can joke, even about fat people. It's the intention that pisses people off. Most folk on here are good intentional even about the most riskiest of subjects.

Sometimes having a fat ass has an advantage in sport.

So me being genuinely curious about how an overweight person can actually be as fit as 'normal weight' person to do such a physically demanding job is not showing good intention? I don't know much about lifesaving (apart from watching Bondi Rescue) but do know you have to be fit, and to me, fit and overweight/obese don't go together otherwise drs wouldn't advise on maintaining a healthy BMI.

Anyway, I apologise about the moobs comment, it was after a couple of glasses of wine!

it's the tone of your post that has naffed folk off mate. It was the intent and mean spirited tone of your post not the fact you mentioned a fat person.

There is a difference between joking and being mean spirited mate;)

That wasn't my intention so apologies. Just for the record I've never been mean spirited in any of previous posts (not that I have many!), lesson learned, I shall try and brush up on my posting etiqutte :o

I didn't think there was anything wrong with your post. I too would be concerned if someone who is obviously overweight had to try and save my life if I was caught in a rip. Granted not all lifesavers are young, toned, bronzed beauties... If only! :D but you expect that they maintain a healthy life in order for them to do their job more effectively... I.e eat right and exercise, in which case they wouldn't look like the guy in that pic.

I wouldn't worry too much. We have all said things we've lived to regret :o :)

My opinion is that he must be capable of doing his job otherwise he wouldn't be there, and if I was drowning I wouldn't care who saved me - I just hope someone would.
The issue of fitness is the main point for a job like that. I am slim but I'm not a strong enough swimmer to be a lifeguard. I would struggle to get a 10 year old from a swimming pool, never mind an adult from the sea

Personally I have far more issues with the dude sunbaking. I assume he's off duty but in that case he probably shouldn't be in the gear and he's probably getting melanomas.

Fat people make me laugh, they are weak and pathetic.

They will, however, last longer in a crisis.
