Perhaps it should be. Aussie supermarkets seem to follow the strategy of leaving huge amounts of inedible foliage on their vegetables. Leeks have a branch hanging on, spring onions are about a metre long and potatoes are encompassed by an inch thick layer of mud. A ruse so the customer thinks they are getting more veg for his/her dosh?

Yeah, what is it with the Spring Onions? My Tasmanian ex used to call them triffids cos they were so huge
