So sad to see and such a shock

I saw that yesterday and whilst I knew he was a shadow of his former self I was so shocked, especially the pic of him with the others who are just so fit and healthy looking. He seems happy enough but I guess having been such an addict for so many things for so long, he's just grateful to be alive.

It is shocking, I couldn't believe it when I saw the pics. It's such a shame. My heart goes out to his family.

Does he still have family? They're never mentioned. I know he simply can't help himself and he's a total addict for many things but it does annoy me that these great sportsmen and public can get together to raise money for treatment whilst he nips into a bookies to place a bet. You can't let him suffer as he is but to watch him gambling and drinking with what little money he has must be frustrating for those trying to help.

Yep me too. I could not believe it when I saw that picture yesterday. I don't think I have ever seen anyone look quite so frail and shrunken before.

Thats so sad, I used to love watching him play.

He has sisters as far as I remember. They have tried and tried with him over the years, and although they look out for him, he does his own thing and they can't do anything about it.

Doesn't he have kids and an ex wife? I can't remember now.

As far as the drinking/smoking/gambling is concerned, whether has still has addictions or not, he will always be an addict. Some of those things probably keep him sane of a day.

There's an ex wife and a daughter, no idea if they're involved in his life at all. Must be soul destroying.

We have fatter looking prem babies on our unit,they have no teeth either but do look good on their baby food

poor man. i wonder if he wishes he could turn back time and live it all over again

I posted on here last July that I had bought him a drink in Belfast and he looked rough, but he has fair went downhill since then!!
