One pitfall I've found is that is it is seriously easy/dangerous to buy books, which culminated in me buying two books inadvertently last night, which I am now awaiting a refund for. It's the combination of one-click payment and the first button that is focused when you view book information is the "Buy" button. I actually did want one of the books, but just not at that point, which means I've got to wait for the refund cycle to complete (3-5 days) before I can attempt to buy it again.
Apart from that, very impressed.

I also discovered yesterday that its possible to read it in the bath - a definite bonus when on something that is usually enormous and hardback! I'm reading the new Jilly Cooper, and the bliss on having it on the kindle instead of a huge hardback to hold up is stunning - higly recommended for anyone with arthritic wrists

Personally I love the layout, font size etc. Haven't tried changing the size though apparently you can do it, but at present it suits me the way it is

Never used an ebook reader before so have nothing to compare it to. I discovered yesterday that I could make separate collections for books, just move them from the main one into my own sub-collections. The SD card thing - I can see that, being able to store the books myself would be handy. Haven't yet investigated any of the replacement issues etc to see if they are still current, though I do see that review is fairly old (in the world of ereaders)

This is not a business model that is going to work very well?

(Still confused) I would like to be able to read Tom Clancy's older books on a Kindle - but they don't seem to be available. Any ideas?

I've just found them on the Amazon site - but not available in Australia!
I shall be interested to see how Polly gets to download from the "prohibited" list!

I know Spalen wrote that there are ways around it, but if you're that savvy ....
I shall see how Polly gets on with hers.

No-one has told me how it survives a drop in the bath! I watch tv programmes on my multimedia phone in the bath. So far I've managed not to drop it in the bath.
So how does the kindle go after a quick swim. Can someone please drop their kindle in the bath and let me know if it still works?
I'll buy you a new one if it breaks it.

P.S. No I won't, you dropped it in a bath, what were you thinking.

The CEO of amazon reads his kindle in the bath - I imagine it is a luxurious affair with more square feet than my swimming pool and that he has a stack of minions , nay, nymphs , on hand with backup kindles syncronised to his particular page should his kindle at any point accidentally engage in its watery surrounds.
) who will wait on me hand and foot while in the bath, one sits by the side to hold and refill my wine glass, and she also holds the kindle for me when necessary to stop it getting wet!
Bet the service isn't as good when I'm back in London next week with Bernie

My Kindle died a death after 5 days, just waiting a replacement. Reading lots of forums in the meantime and seems they have a very common problem with freezing. We'll see how Kindle No2. performs and fingers are crossed as I loved it during the short time I had it.
