Well the river is still quite high but as the rain eased off overnight we are still ok....PHEW!!!!
Heard the trains from Pontypridd to Treherbert were closed and Bridgend to Methyr. Ponty was at a standstill last night from the flooding!!! :
You ok this morning?

Sounds like a lot of places had it really bad. Haven't seen the news today so don't know how bad it got. By the time we went to bed the worst seemed to be over.
The rental we found and put a deposit on is right next to the river... might take a drive down and see if it still there.
Having second thoughts about taking it now.

what a wild night - been up since 4am whilst the wind and rain lashed the house. I feel for OH and his mates - they are on his stag do all day starting at 8am travelling to paintballing in a forest in this weather!! I'm sure by the time they hit Manchester tonight, none of them will give a bigger about the weather. Thanks for the goodwishes for Friday - I am so excited!: Diz x x

When's your hen do???
Gloucester got it bad again too... they really didn't need it again.

Hi Fly Away!
We'd been promised rain for a couple of weeks! It came on Wednesday night, and boy do we need it to rain here!
Rain non-stop all day Thursday. Driving skills here really bad, and they make no allowance for rain on top of oily roads, or the fact that the rain is coming down so quickly that the wipers can't wipe fast enough to give you any forward vision. There was a really bad accident on the Bruce Highway, people killed, and highway closed for hours.
On the way to school to pickup DS yesterday, a car had come off the road 150mtrs from my house. Really weird camber on this particular roundabout, and most people I know take it easy, 'cos people are always sliding off and crashing into the street lamp or road sign. The people who were getting out of the car seemed okay, so I drove on to school. By the time I was heading home, (15mins later), I had a fire engine nearly in my boot.
Nice to see that all the cars pulled off to the side to allow it through. When we caught up with the fire engine, there was an ambulance there too, and it looked as though a second car had run into the side of the first car in the 15 minutes I'd been at school!
There is nothing that could prepare us Brits for the quality of driving in QLD. When I see people being 'polite', i.e., letting people out etc., I always think, "they must be British".
Anyhow, hope the rain has stopped for you peeps!
Stay safe,
Mxxx

After yesterdays downpour it's been sunny here all day today until about an hour ago.
Now the heavens have opened again
Luckily this area doesn't flood - it all runs to the sea.
I really feel for people who live in flood prone areas - it must be awful to have flood water destroy your home or to live in fear of it happening.
