Yep,
we too had boxes go missing & worse of all was the remote to the TV :mad:(nearly 5 yrs ago)....... company came out & due to tools and furniture made us have a 40 foot container :ohmy: when it got delivered to us in Australia it all fit in to a luton type van:sneaky:

We gave up trying to claim........ just got sent round and round in circles

I'm only just starting to wonder if anything went missing between uk and oz, its been 2 years though, so my memory is a bit foggy.

We re-packed a few things when we got the shipment as we didnt have space, but they have since been unpacked and I am starting to remember a few things that I am sure I havent seen since we have been here.

I am also doubting myself as to wether I even bought them over. I used the opportunity of the move to oz to have a good purge and I am wondering if I gave said items to friends or family.

I am going to ask friends and family first if I gave them anything, ,then dig out the shipping paperwork, but I think 2 years might be too long to make a claim!!!

They were really sneaky with the stuff they stole from us Aussie side. They took lots of music cd's, only they didn't steal the cases, they just took the cd's from inside them so we didn't notice until we came to play them :curse:

As far as queensland is concerned, I am currently going through the process.. here's what I have come up with so far:
If you are not there at the time prior to arrival of firearms and having pre-arranged for the permits etc... just declare all items on the shipping list, and safely store at a place in container where customs can easily access the goods for seizure.A seizure notice is then issued. You then have to go through the application for import process (QLD) before customs will release the goods. NOTE: make shure what is permissible as far as the calibre/action is concerned... the best way about this is to send a e-mail to the Atourney generals office and they will tell you what is allowed by law for eventual licensing. (I am having to auction off some of my priced possessions as a result!):frown::Hope this helps ...

I was just a little shocked at the idea of the firearms being shipped in regualr cargo and being picked up by Customs, but I guess if the expected process if to have them seized and then reacquire it makes sense.

I'm already in Victoria, a member of the SSAA and fully licensed in both Handguns and Rifles ;) You're going to love it when you get here. Some great ranges.

We had boxes which went missing UK side All my old records and picture discs. We were insured with Letton and submitted a claim form online and that was it - they paid out no probs.

Someone somewhere is making a fortune.

Glad I'm not the only one who does this, when we decided to move again we had a sort through all the boxes again (some of which hadnt been opened since we arrived!) and I'm sure there's things that werent there........ but I just cant remember if perhaps we got rid of it... :o

Tip for anyone who's moving in the future: get your friends and family round so you can keep an eye on each and every one of the packers. Certainly what I would have done if I had my time again.

Really f**ked off state to be honest.;)

We chose Crown simply because they had a licence to transport Firearms. Alot of the other removal firms didn't, so we went with Crown who charged us a fortune too.
We had to give up our Firearms licence in the UK and once the Firearms arrived in WA they were to be detained by the police until we had a Licence for them here in WA.
But as you know they never left the UK shores. The Firearms were never found.
We never got a rebate either from Crown.

We used Crown, too. This was several years ago, and a number of small items 'disappeared'. These included costume jewelry (several necklaces, 1940's & 50's brooches, earrings & hair slides), several bottles of French perfume & body lotion, 2 pairs of evening shoes, a pair of suede boots, a small transistor radio, a velvet scarf, & an embroidered evening skirt.

The Aussie side didn't unpack for us, so it seems very likely that the items disappeared in the UK. One of our UK packers was a woman & I suspect she just took a liking to the stuff. I got the impression from the other packers that she was a 'temp' & not part of the usual crew, but they seemed OK with her and seemed to be directing her closely. When we came to consider making a claim, of course none of the items were valuable enough, or even easily replaceable, so of course we lost out :(

I have heard from a couple of others who used Crown & also had small items like this disappear mysteriously. I suspect it happens with other shippers too, but I was especially disappointed with Crown, as they trade on their good reputation, & the sales guy gave us the hard yakka about how safe all our possessions would be. :curse:
