Item missing from container

My ex hubby went up to Brisbane today to collect our son's stuff that had been shipped over from the UK.

When he went with them to load the boxes etc into his car it was noticed that an item was missing. This happened to be an electric piano, weighing
60kgs in a bright silver flight case....hard to miss and worth over $3800.

They said that it must have not been put in the container in the UK and that they would look into it.

We are BL**DY furious and are not quite sure what we should do next.

My son is contacting the shippers in the UK today and telling them that if it is still there then they need to put it on the first flight out here and if not then we have to make a claim against them.

Has anyone had experience of this happening....and what was the outcome.

Thanks

Sharon

I think there have been quite a few cases. One poster said that their firearms had been stolen - the company denied it but the culprits were caught on CCTV:lol:

Im afraid it does happen and if I were you, I would fight tooth and nail for this because someone knows something.

I think it happens quite a lot... I've noticed a few things missing, luckily only silly stuff (like my Rubik's cube!) but it's still annoying when you've paid all that money to get it shipped

Yes, we were the ones who's Firearms went missing. Not only did the Firearms get stolen, but a number of other things such as tools.
We were insured so got paid out, but also complained and dragged their name through the dirt.
The thief was caught and got 2 years in prison.

Are you insured? If the piano doesn't turn up then surely you can claim.

It happened to us and almost every migrant we know so it seems it's more common than we realised. The things is, the Aus side blame UK and vice versa so you never get a straight answer.

To go through the claims process means letters, phonecalls, emails etc and all this just when you could least do with it. We gave up in the end as we were too exhausted:(

Good luck.

It's a shame that he didn't get a longer stretch. Did they ever recover your firearms?

Re: Item missing from container

I have just spoken to the Shippers in Brisbane who informed me that they have already informed the UK side of what has happened.

We were going to email the UK today but I have decided to call them and see what they have to say.

Believe me...I love a good fight. :curse:

Interesting, how did you get import permits for the firearms while in the UK ?

I thought that you had to arrange for an Australian dealer to take possession via a Customs approved courier, get your Australian license and then a Permit to Acquire with the serial numbers before you could touch them in Australia.

What state are you in ?
