Speeding less than 13 k over limit 1 point, failing to wear seat belt 3 points. Over the holiday that would be double so 8 points. If you were in excess of 13k over you'd do your full 12 point allocation as it's a 3 point offense doubled. Driving on "Black Friday" scares the bejeesus out of me:eek::ohmy: |

To anyone who speeds, feel free to add up the points and the fines but please don't complain about being caught. It's obviously a risk you're happy to run so deal with it. |

I have to get my new licence soon, I object to forking out every five years for one but I'm going to brush my hair & get a wash for this one, I may even shave:eek: |

In WA the roads authority "Main Roads WA" regularily reviews speed limits in roads. Every anouncement of a change in speed limit I have seen has been a reduction.
This leads me to ask why. I know the answer will come back that speeding causes accidents and costs lives. However, cars are now technically way in advance of, and safer than, cars were when the speed limits were initially placed. This indicates to me that the continual speed limit reductions are not the only answer to the accident statistics. The style of driving here is one of the major problems (tailgating, crossing 3 lanes of traffic on the freeway in one move, road design etc etc). This needs to be addressed too, and it may have been but I can't see it. All I see is the continual "Don't speed" and "Don't drive when drunk" messages. In the UK people drove faster, but I saw less accidents than here in WA, and drivers were more courteous. |

If they wanted people to know don't know why they don't put more speed limits on the road itself every K or so to ensure people know the speed for that stretch. In UK they found those flashing signs that reminded you of your speed and didn't fine you had a more drastic effect on peoples speed than cop cameras. |

On the continent they have a set of traffic lights on entering a town your speed is monitored if you are going too fast the traffic lights change to red! slows everyone down :thumbsup:
