You may receive a warning letter when you gain at least seven demerit points in a three year period.
If 12 or more demerit points are recorded against your traffic history in a three year period, you will be sent an 'Accumulation of demerit points notice – notice to choose'. In UK had 1 speeding point in 20 years of driving - been on GC for 4 months and have received 2 speeding fines!!! both $100 and doing 71km in 60km zone on school run - definitely out to get me!!!

$150 and 3 demerits for doing 73 in a 60 zone. Now I've just been flashed again so heres hoping but I doubt it.:thumbdown:

The problem is we have come from the UK where speeding is a way of life. In Oz it is taboo. However-compare the accident rates. They have it right, we are the ones in the wrong.

QLD have slow speeds so that you don't go far off the road when you're driving home with a skin full, same reason for why the roads are so wide.
